Show us ya tool box!

Postby YeMs » Tue May 15, 2012 8:41 pm

Iv been pondering an idea for a topic and thought id throw it out there (something that i love!) and see how it goes. Feel free to tell me to F off and look at my own lol.

I thought a 'Show us ya tool box' thread would be cool. See what people have got at work and at home to work with. Ill grab some snaps of mine and chuck them up to start of with if every ones to shy. What brands do every one like? im pretty big on the snap-on/Blue-point range. Get tool account at work and it spends most of its time maxed out...

(can understand if this could be considered a breach of personal privacy, however i dont see how far different it is from showing of all the flashy bits of our cars)

Not at home so cant post a pic of my toolbox but will asap
I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

 pretty much the same. I'll tidy my garage and sort out my tools every couple of months. But in between then things just get chucked on the work bench/ in the cupboards.

What's a tool box?

I have a (cheap?) set of six screw drivers, a small screwdriver i got with something i bought at Super Cheap years ago, and a hammer i've claimed as my own since the 1990's or so. Think that's everything?

Beat that! :D

Oh. Most of you will. :(

But yeah, i don't work on my cars, other people do. And not very often at all at that (don't drive them much and don't modify them/change things unless a WoF says i have to usually).

Enter this site at your peril. Take any budget you have for your tools, write it on a piece of paper, and then crumple it up and throw it away.

I didn't take heed, and am now very poor as a result lol

Nice box! lol (yeah, I say that to all the ladies too). SO did you get it with a Landcruiser, stumble across it, or seek it out as a collectors item?

I don't have a toolbox really, well I do have a big plastic carry around one that only use for track days or 4wding trips.

I only have a 28m2 garage so have to be creative with tool storage, wooden panels and hooks for ratchet spanners, sockets, pliers etc. Plus 3 big metal cupboards for many power tools and stuff.

Also a tall metal filing cabinet thing with small drawers is great for random stuff like metal files, hammers, screw nails, g-clamps, sandpaper etc etc.

Have almost finalised on a house with a bigger garage so hopefully have 85m2 soon with a 20m2 enclosed workshop 8) Maybe then I'll get a big chest on casters 8)

Pretty much just the floor at this stage. Havent been able to gather much in the way of toolboxes/benches etc, working on it tho. My dad just gave me his ancient (and underloved) 80's era toolbox tho, Im going to bring it back to its former red glory.

My tool box/ work area at work.
Boxes are a repco 7 drawer bottom and 1-11 9 drawer top. i really like the 1-11, but the repco is actually quite well built.
Image

My other toolbox for "My" 8 axis Cnc lathe (well every one at work says its mine cuz im the only person there who knows how to use it.)
Also note the blue toolbox which its sole purpose is to hold up the parts bin lol(it fell off a trolley while full of tools so is kinda forked)

Box is a supercheap set which is pretty rubbish really, the drawers are long, flimsy and not very deep.
Image

And my super tidy  toolbox / tool storage area at home
Box is a 1-11 6 drawer.
