Dash Repairs/Restoration - CHCH

Postby haydo » Tue May 22, 2012 5:56 pm

Hi all,

I've inherited a rough dashboard and console in my Altezza and it's time to tidy it up.

Was considering doing it myself but am perfectionist and will most likely cock it up. Can anyone recommend anyone or a place that deals with such work?

Cheers Hayden

Wouldn't it be easier to buy another dash and install?

Yup, that was the plan. Purchased 2 secondhand dashs in the past months shipped down from Auckland, both have been in pretty average condition themselves despite having them described as great condition.

Got a quote from a Toyota Dealer for a dash and was looking at about $2000 from Japan.

So was hoping to get a quote for a bit of painting and work out what's cheaper.

Basically my dash has been hacked and deep scratched on the bar above the glove box, around the stereo and around by the air vents. It's all a one piece.

I could paint it myself but would rather pay a pro to tidy it up for me. If I could source an acceptable dash to swap in that would be great but I've been on the hunt for months so kind of given up.

Probably you can try getting a dash off a parts importer. A lot of them import front cuts, you can probably just buy the dash off them.

I did think of that - tried a few but no emails or phone calls back.

I will keep pondering on what to do!
