Mitsubishi Cedia Turbo 1.8

Postby solitaire » Fri May 25, 2012 3:53 pm

Hi Folks,

Anyone got/have experience with one of these?

Are they a bit of fun? What are they like on gas?

I am wondering if I need to change my daily, if I did it would have to be a wagon, looking for something good on gas when i drive like a nana but has the get up and go when I want to pass someone.

Does a cedia fit that description?

The non-turbo ones are pathetic I can tell you that much... couldn't pull a pork chop off a greasy plate. The turbo ones are much better!
I haven't seen a manual turbo one unless that doesn't bother you?
If not then you could also look at the Nissan Aveneir as well...
Don't go past Legacy or WRX wagons either. My '95 TT Legacy wagon has done 193***k's, still the same as it rolled out the factory and on the open road getting around 9.5L/100k's and around 10-10.5L/100k's. Plus they are huge on the inside.

Please stay away. they are very hard to work on and parts expensive. The CVT break always as not strong and once slipping very expensive to fix.

We see lots of lease cars with them and they always have big bills.

They look like normal car but maybe take advise or not but they are not good mechanically.

Well, that answers that question! cheers gents :D

Don't care if its manual, requirements are cruise control, fuel economy, station wagon - in that order.

Was hoping for something that got under 9L/100ks open road too. might be dreaming a bit.

my womans honda orthia managed high 8s open road with me being fairly unkind to it. its prob in need of an o2 sensor and also had a buggered thermostat at the time too, so was running cold.

it doesnt have cruise though. higher spec ones might but they are all auto as far as i can tell. i know you dont care bout that though :)

They're not actually as bad as mentioned. Pretty much the biggest thing with them is that they are GDI so maintenance history matters more than it usually would. The gearboxes are fine unless they haven't been maintained or they've been abused. They don't just spontaneously implode - same goes for any other part of the drivetrain.

They're not exactly earth shattering in the go fast department. I'd personally take the (small) step up to an Evo 7 GTA if there is flexibility in the wagon/sedan part. Would be an easier car to live with on a day to day basis than a full blown Evo but still be plenty of fun when the roads turn twisty or a passing lane appears. With a reflash, fuel economy can rival many less interesting cars.

They're getting cheap enough now that I think they're seriously worth considering for daily running around.

wagon, around 9l/100 open road (have done as low as 8.5) and 11.5l/100 in town. 170kw, sadly will probably not have cruise control... As far as passing these things have great torque and will pass most things with ease.

agreed GDI is not a good option

Evo 4 230Kw atw
1971 mini.
79 bugeye 245kw atw.

You don't know what you are talking about. The turbo 1.8 Cedia doesn't have a CVT transmission, only the lesser spec models.
