advise on CL1 or Caldina GTT?

Guess its time for the BZR to go and get something that's a bit bigger.

Budget around 8k. Have my eyes on Accord euro Rs and Caldina GTTs.

At the moment I favor GTT a bit more than CL1 but would really like to hear what you guys think about these two cars, or anything else you can think of in this matter :)

Aspects that I consider are;
- fuel consumption
- appearance (still in favor of more sports looking cars)
- performance

So yea, how would you compare these two cars??

Caldina GTT very popular with young boy who want to drive fast on street. So price expensive.

Maybe think about BZ-G or maybe Alfa/BMW wagon. they are very good

the reason why I like a Caldina is because my mother used to drive one. Although its a spec G, it drives really nice and has a very flexible space being a wagon.

Which mean for me, the only thing missing is power, and the GTT spec Caldina seems perfect in this case.

BZ-Gs are pretty much the same with BZ-R....I believe BZ-Rs are a bit better if not the same. And with 8k budget I would stay away from euro cars since they generally don't last as long as Toyota or Hondas.

I think you mistake. European cars are just as reliable as Japanese ones. Its how owner service and looks after it and New Zealander do not do that very well.

There is 318ti wagon for sale for $7,500 New Zealand dollar which would be good as its the Touring model.

I'd take the CL1 purely because it doesn't contain a 3SGTE.

I would take the Euro R as the Caldinas are starting to look a little dated IMO plus Insurance would probably be cheaper with a non turbo and the CL1 have the worlds most comfortable bucket seats.

I tossed up both when I got my GTT. The Euro is a nice car but I'm glad I went the GTT route.

Having a wagon is so practical, it's miles quicker then a euro, ultra-reliable (the only issue I've had over 5 years is the leaky manifold which didn't cost much to sort and has been sweet for the past 3 years). Fuel economy is roughly the same. Personally I feel the GTT handles a lot better.

The only thing I wish is the GTT had was the Euro's interior.

It comes down to what you want. I wanted my car for loading bikes into, towing a boat, taking camping and going on holidays. The wagon makes so much more sense for those reasons. Either way you went you wouldn't be making a huge mistake.

I think maybe drive both and see what you think. Sometimes if you like the way the car drives it makes better choose then figures alone. Car companies lie to consumer to make them buy the product.

I wouldn't touch the CL1 coz I fricken hate working on Hondas :P

Go drive both, get the one you like to drive the most.

mind explaining a little? I've never driven a turbo car before so dont know too much about them.

I've heard that GTTs have a common problem where the exhaust manifold doesn't have enough bolts in it so when pressure or temperature gets high it tends to leak.

True that CL1 looks better, im with you on that one. As to the insurance....geez I haven't thought about that :P

Yea my mother used to drive a Caldina G until my brother wrecked it....really nice to drive and like you said, PRACTICAL! Pretty much anything you can lift up you can fit into the car :D

haha i've only ever owned toyotas before, and I don't mind keeping it that way :D

I thought about advertising it up here, the reason why I didn't is because the price I want is probably above reasonable for most of the people around here. Plus it would not be the price for someone that wants a project car I don't think.

But since you've asked, I want 4k for it, as a base fund for the GTT or CL1 8)

Price is my lowest offer coz I cant be bothered negotiating :P

oh! and the offer is on hold atm bcoz my mate is considering whether or not he would buy it from me. So before he says no I can't really sell it to anyone....apologies for this

Mrs has a CL1, has had it coming up 2 years now & would be my pick over the GTT purley just for turn key fun and reliablity. You can yeld good results with a few subtle mods

Insurance isnt cheap on the CL1's either, well not with State anyway.

Headers, exhaust, intake, vafc/camfc and a tune will be enough to start with, The mrs one has cams & a hondata. Also some good tyres and brake pads will do wonders
