You so funny Sergi.
Best car with character would be Lancia Stratos. Very stupid and very short wheel base but looks like naked girl and goes very fast.

You can't compare exotic, luxury cars with cars for the masses. They serve totally different purposes.

And there are really only few car manufactures globally anyway. The same people that made the Bugatti Veyron also made the skoda yeti.

Yep, to me jappas have no soul.
If I look at all the cars that really turn me on, not a single one is a jappa.
Sure there are plenty I like. But none that really fire me up and I'd buy the minute I won lotto.

I'd own 10 Triumphs to one Corolla if I could.

Coz I'd need 10 to make sure one always went :P

Not even the likes of TA/RA22 Celicas? Or TE27 Corollas?

I mean sure, they are no Imp, but they are still pretty sweet

Soul is rubbish. People like cars for the reasons people have already said, they're brought up with them, familiar with them etc.

If you want to tie up the soul/passion thing then what about the engineers passionate about technical perfection? Koenigsegg?

Does anyone think any new cars actually have soul? I get the impression people are tied up with the classics, and deciding they have soul because they're classics. A triumph doesn't have soul, they're terrible cars. That doesn't give them soul, that makes them a terrible purchase.

TE27 is just a mass produced Corolla with a bigger motor in after all.

Triumphs have soul because of the time people MUST invest in them just to keep them alive, old Toyotas have soul because people CHOOSE to invest time in them.

Correct, they are the coolest of jappas. But they no light my fire.

The key thing is, logic has no place when it comes to the cars you love.

Proven by your obsession with IMP's! If ever there was a car to purchase with no logic, you own it (or several of them!). ;)

To me car soul is equivalent to how boring a car is.

i.e old corolla's have "soul" because they need some care to get going.
old triumphs need some work to keep going.

Something like a late 80's turbo has soul because its a bit loud a bit laggy.

a brand new boring jap car, comfortable runs like a dream has no soul,
no excitement,no work required no soul.

If Triumph's are soooo bad, how come there are so many of the 2000 and 2500 saloons still trucking along on the roads, more than any Japanese vehicle of the same vintage and size/capacity I'd wager.

The saloons are rock solid, awesome cars. Handle well, comfortable, aside from the 2l autos they get along well enough to keep up with traffic (my 2.5 manual PI did 100mph without breaking a sweat) and they look $&#$% cool to boot.

I may be biased.

My 1972 Datsun is a worse car in every respect than my previous 1972 and 1973 Triumphs.

Don't worry the Hillman Imp was released in 1963, they are approximately 25 in the photos, that makes them 74 years old.... anyone other than Revhead want a threesome?
