Diff coolers

So the gt4 has a factory gearbox oil cooler (which I will be upgrading to a 10or19 row aftermarket unit with a thermostat using -10an fittings and braided line)

Just wondering if anyone has had issues with the rear torsen diffs overheating esp with more kw output then factory

is there anypoint in setting up a rear diff oil cooler ?

pros cons??

the rear torsen diffs suck if you are interested in putting power to the ground around tight corners. they put all the power to the inside rear wheel which has little or no weight on it and you end up with very little drive thru the corner.

Even if there shimmed up?

I am looking into an open st165 diff that I will be weilding up for shts and giggles

Will evantually go to a cusco 2way its just a time thing

I know lsds tend to act like an open diff if they get to hot

Does the factory gearbox cooler have an external pump and lines going to a small core at the front of the car?

I know the Euro spec JZA80 came with a diff cooler from the factory, to try and combat the sustained high speeds expected to be encountered on the autobahns. But it saying that, I know lots and lots of people who track their uncooled diffs so I cant see it becoming a big problem unless endurance racing is your thing?

Can't shim a torsen.

They do produce plenty of heat when they are working hard.

They work really well, BUT need weight on both wheels to work as an lsd, otherwise they'll single spin.
So if you have heavy swaybars or do tight, low speed turns where the inside wheel becomes unloaded, it is unable to bias the power to the wheel with grip.
