thats what I thought too, but then people say Torneos are the facelift version of Accords and the MT gearbox issue was fixed

what do you guys think about Corolla RunX? the 1.8L version with approx 190hp on VVTL-i engine.

Performance wise its obviously not comparable to GTT or CL1, but what about reliability?

Test drove a couple before I bought my 03 legacy. Was orginally going to get one but decided I needed a larger car(I didnt like the of the wagon veriant)

They get my vote, cheap, fun & reliable & make goooood sounds on WOT :D

Anyone who owns or have owned an Accord CL1 that have came across this problem?? And how much would it cost to solve this problem?

thanks

uh guess I should go search the Honda forum....

Torneo and Accord Euro-R are mechanically identical. The differences are purely cosmetic.

The 5th gear problem is an easy fix if you're mechanically minded. If not, I wouldn't recommend it. 5th and Reverse synchro wear out and it gets hard to engage 5th or Reverse. These gears are right at the end of the box so don't have to take the whole lot apart to do it. It's a design fault in the 5th gear synchro. Costs just over $1k to fix at Honda or a lot less at gearbox shops/self.

Having said that, mine shifted perfectly for the short time I had it. Haven't heard of a lot of them having the problem but it does exist.

We have a RunX and Caldina GTT. Power-to-weight wise the RunX almost the same as the Caldina. When it hits the high lift cam it's easy to see how people got addicted to vtec ;) In a straight line with a rolling start there wouldn't be much between them up to 140km/h. Also, being a 1.8 6-speed in relatively small car there is plenty of torque all over the place.

So yes, it is definitely comparable in performance.

Would I buy one over a GTT? Tough call but for me the 4WD and practicality of the GTT wins out (especially if you drive in snow/icy conditions).

thanks guys for all your replies!

seems that either CL1 or the RunX would be a fine choice. will see how things go when I get to Auckland :)

Like many of you have said I should try them out and see which one suite me best
