Re: Taranaki Motorsport Park Hijacked by Nelson!
Updates:
Full RMA consent gained earlier this year. That's all the legal hurdles out of the way!
Went along tonigh to the first AGM of the inc society set up to plan the fund raising and planning for the park.
Goal is to have a plan ready and sent to the Nelson/Tasman councils this year for including in the two councils long term plans. Doing so will help with funding from the councils for things like roading and intersection alterations etc.
Still realisticly 2 years away from actual earthworks starting proper.
Main goal now is to build membership and support to get more leverage with the councils

This has a far more inventive layout than Hampton Downs. Looks interesting.

Re: Kohatu Park. Race track near Nelson
That was a number mentioned to have everything developed and functioning in the park, there is a lot more planned than just a racetrack. The first thing operational (aside from off road facilities) is the drag strip, followed closely by the circuit.
Time frame for the track? 2-5 years, depends of funding. Currently undergoing a membership drive to show support to the 2 councils with the hope both councils will include the park in their long term plans, being included in those plans opens a lot more avenues for council/government funding.
If any one has Tony Quinns number, flick him a text and tell him Nelson is a great place to visit

Re: Kohatu Park. Race track near Nelson
So both councils in the area have recently closed submissions to their long term plans.
There were more submissions received about this than anything else in the plans (and there was some things that have been big in the media lately)
I think for the Tasman council there were more than all other submissions combined. So that's a very clear showing of support to the councils.
Off road activities are possibly going to start before the end of the year. So 4wding, off road racing, Moto cross etc.
