selling car to car yards, where to go? CHCH

Postby Tagged » Tue Jun 19, 2012 2:32 pm

Got a friend who's going back overseas and if his car doesn't sell he will sell it to dealers. Does any know or has any previous experience on this? like which dealer tends to buy cars at a higher price.

thanks

Try Turners Auctions. They will get you more than any dealer will offer.

No dealer buys a car at a higer price.

As above, turners cash for car would pay more.

Take what you think your car is worth, half it and subtract a few more $k. That is how much they would give you. They need to be able to make a profit, and they also need to be able to onsell it to someone else who could make a profit if they dont have any luck

$1 reserve it on Trade Me. As long as the description is good, and you have the full 20 high quality photos of the car looking clean and presentable, you will get more than Turners will offer you.

If it doesn't sell it's priced too high. Priced right = sold.

i essentially agree with this, especially if time is a factor. $1 auction as mentioned above is the only decent option IMHO

Whats the old saying? Its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Pretty much, and if you want a quick sale you have to price it accordingly. Even a "cheap" price will likely be more than a company of any description is going to offer.
