Pretty sure this guy paid 7k for it not too long ago, and a 90,000 kms 5-speed NA red 93' Supra just sold in ChCh for 7k too. So you could buy one and have some left over (3k for a 2JZ-GTE setup?)

Wotchu been smoking wiggah? I'm a midget!
Yes I would prefer Front engine and Rear drive. I've driven NA8CE MX5 and FD3S RX7, the MX5 required seat removal, the RX7 needs at the very least a smaller steering wheel, but probably aftermarket seats/rails (but then what car doesn't)
Acknowledge the point about it not being a tidy FD for under 10k :\ I still just don't know if I can bring myself to buy an S14... I'd probably put it at the bottom of my list for personal taste reasons really, even though I know it may make the most sense bang for buck.
Any other thoughts?
Oh and rev, don't toy with the falcon idea, I've been seriously considering BA XR6t ute for a few months now...
xr6t has got to be worth considering though yeah? 300+kw atw is relatively easily attained, and that'd be pretty loose in a ute. Would be nowhere near as nimble as other suggestions though

Sure is some interesting numbers you gave there Shaarn.
The jdm na 5spd is 1430kg, and the GE is 167kw so how on earth does it lose between 42 and 57 kw? That sure is some large drivetrain losses right there lol. You have owned 3 of them yourself, so they cant be that bad, surely?
To the OP, I recommended the A80 over the Z30 simply because its lighter, sportier, handles better, and is a very fun car to drive, sure it might not have a turbo, but it can be driven very well in the right pair of hands. Not to mention being less attractive to the local FTPFP brigade
Im not sure why Shaarn thinks its not a good car to get around in quickly, given its a ROAD car with 225hp, but trust me, on the road they are alot of fun, and on the track, they are even more fun if you can actually drive them as intended.
Normally its the nut between the seat and the steering wheel that is the reason for their slow pace.
wak thud gush!
I'm not saying they aren't a good all-rounder... just they aren't quick though.
Yeah, I've had 3 so far - 2 of which have been on the dyno and also have seen another 8-10 NAs over there years at dyno days I've organized.
Detonator (Tony) was the highest I'd ever seen reading around 160kw on the hub, which even Soichi was very suprised. Otherwise, every single time, the NAs have been between 110-130kw max
I'd kick the figure guys in the nuts for the 225 estimate... though thinking now it's obviously bhp, which is 160-170rwhp (115-120kw) which is close to exactly right. My bad figure people

lets talk True flywheel HP, as every other figure is merely a number used for comparisons......

If you're considering an SZ supra you would be better off with a R33 25
They put down the same amount of power (on the dyno) and are lighter with an LSD. Also you would get a much newer car with less kms for the same money as the supra.

Can you give more indicators of your personal taste (ie what you don't like)? If you aren't sure that you could bring yourself to own an S14, and have a JZZ30 as one of your top choices then making logical suggestions isn't going to cut it here

But then you'd still have an R33, not a Supra
