Well I bought my Starion for $800 with reg and wof. That would leave me with $9200 to spend on handling, braking and engine mods
Would be a very good track/road car.

Ok now if I understand this thread (and I think I do), OP wants a turbo manual (gathered this much from his short list) front engined rear wheel driven car. He would also rather that it didn't cost over $10k, was in decent condition and road legal so he can enjoy a weekend drive in it.
A JZA80 SZR does not belong in this thread. As has already been pointed out. They were expensive new and they still are. How awesome they may (or may not) be has no bearing on the fact that they have no place in this thread.
JZA80's altogether are not likely to be the best option for OP. A quick look on Trademe says the cheapest manual A80 that meets the above criteria is bang on $10k. It also has 200+ kms on the clock. If his budget was $20k then things would be different - but it's not. Yes you *can* get a manual JZA80 for $10k but whether it's a good buy (especially when considered to what other cars that one can get for the same money) is debatable.
I'm sure Supras are awesome (I personally don't see what the hype is all about but each to their own) but for the purposes of this thread, OP has the option of many S14 turbos, R33 turbos, JZZ30's etc and doesn't have to settle for a high km 15 year old car with bugger all power.
This isn't a discussion about whether Supras are better than Skyline's - it's a discussion of what (manual, turbo, rwd, road legal) car to get on a sub $10k budget and I'm not sold that that car is a JZA80.
Flame suit on.

That is the answer to your question.
Good bogan/hoon appeal
Super mint
Very rare in 2 seater form esp. with manual
Well under budget.

Its not going to be a supra, too expensive in desired spec
Its not going to be a Euro as they have similar performance to the japs but potential for massive repair bills
So realistically its going to be an S14 or an R33 or a soarer maybe.
Soarer
Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 280 ps (205.94 kw) / 6200 rpm
Max.torque(Net), N*m(kg*m)/rpm 38.5 kg*m (377.56 N*m) / 2400
Curb vehicle weight, kg 1560
S14
Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 220 ps (161.81 kw) / 6000 rpm
Max.torque(Net), N*m(kg*m)/rpm 28.0 kg*m (274.59 N*m) / 4800
Curb vehicle weight, kg 1250
Skyline
Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 250 ps (183.88 kw) / 6400 rpm
Max.torque(Net), N*m(kg*m)/rpm 30.0 kg*m (294.20 N*m) / 4800
Curb vehicle weight, kg 1370
Based on what I have heard.... (can be corrected)
SR20Dets' dont do too well with high kms as many on trademe have but they are great fun to drive.
Soarer is pretty dam awesome and fast but also pretty heavy and very tough to find in good nic
Skyline not the quickest in stock form but with 1bar boost (watch out for the plastic turbine wheel) and a free flowing intake and exhaust you would have 200kw atw easy and they come with probably the most reliable engine and gearbox combination this side of a Getrag and a 2JZ

Oh dear Lord how that photo haunts me!
I don't mind at all really...
I'm 5"3 (and about 15kg lighter than pictured there!!!!) so that should give you an idea of how tall the lad is.
Ya want an MX5, you know you're a hairdresser at heart

Ah I remember that weekend well, those oldschool Toyspeed trackdays meets were awesome!

My RB has been perfectly reliable. There we go, apparently they do
Lol, having owned and worked on far, far too many RBs over the years I would say that reliability ranks up there with the Toyota K-series.. almost bulletproof motors. The ones I've seen that have crapped out (which could be counted on one hand) were due to pure stupidity. They're probably the most prolific motor in NZ for +t conversions.. and the accompanying very questionable backyard "tunes".. yet still handle the jandal and make good numbers doing it.
So, one more vote for an R33 coupe. Or an S13 with an RB, but then every flatpeaker within a 5km radius with a dent puller and screwdriver would probably take quite an interest in it!
