At the moment I have a Twin Turbo Legacy. Awesome car, been very reliable, but only getting around 360 odd k's from 40-45L is killing me.

Looking for another wagon. Must be manual, 4 door, big enough for 2 dogs in the back, far more economical then the legacy, not a complete slug and something that she who must be obeyed will like.
We want to spend up to 8k at the most. Any year goes.
We looked at a 2001 Alfa Romeo wagon, twin spark 2.0 model, although have no idea about mileage or reliability? Im trying to convince her about BZ Carib's but she isn't keen, or that would have been perfect. Tried to find an evo front Libero that's not modified but that's to hare to find.

Any suggestions? Baby is only 9 weeks away and we want to get something before then. then.

Alfa are very reliable IF maintained but this been New Zealand I would get a very good pre-purchase inspection. Mine is a 2002 model.

Alfa engine is based on FIAT engine designed in 1953. VERY reliable.

caldina's, BZT's, and the fielder,
and the fielder wagon is by far the biggest,
the only one where the baby seat fits behind the driver seat without having to adjust the driving position.

Good info! Thanks for that. I have driven a nz new 1.8 vvti 5 speed one, it went alright, but it was so boring inside!

Best mate has a 6 speed BT carib. She doesn't like his one. But it's white and super hare to keep clean, also a harsh ride, but has some unknown jap lowering springs. Perhaps a factory one might change her mind.
Trying to steer away from modified cars as well. My Legacy is absolutely standard! I like it that way, or tasteful mods.

Don't buy a Frenchie for a reliable family wagon. They have their place, being a reliable family wagon isn't one of them. Buddy of mine manages parts and service dept of a Pug dealer, says don't buy one out of warranty.

Thought about a Camry? Boring, but a lot of space and reasonable reliable. And getting very cheap
