DSR Turbos

Is anyone else running these? Ive got what I think is a gen1 DSR430 on the 2jz Aristo and Im running out of hi end puff. Wanting to know what others have got out of them before changing it as Im more leaning toward the manifold being the Issue

DSR430 is a small turbo, especially for a 2JZGTE - how much boost are you running through it?

spend the money on a decent turbo. Garrett or hit up baz for a turbonetics.

Borg warners from the states are another good option with the US dollar being so good I know a few ppl that have brought from these guys :)

Yeah basically a rubbish turbo for a 2JZGTE, the stock turbos would be better.

Im very much a turbo Noob, so have no idea what half the options mean or do. Would like to see my final setup coming into boost about the same time but have longer and higher limits.

Garrett GT35/82 would be a decent choice for a response type deal also I have a friend in WGTN running one of these behind a triptronic box in a Supra.His car goes pretty good also you will probably see between 320-350 KW also dependent on the sizing of your injectors also he uses a .82 housing so his car is setup for more mid-range than top end but it goes good so I think behind the Auto which is probably restricted to that 350 odd KW range before it craps itself this is another turbo to look at also.

^ Yep, in seriousness I'd say they are one of the best turbos for a stock 2JZGTE in a street car.

I'd actually go one smaller with a Garrett 30/82 and a bigger housing and duplicate something along the lines of the Amuse Supra's boost response if I ever went single.

But the 35/82 is a good choice it has slightly less response than the factory turbo's with BPU mods but gives 20 KW more at the top.

As for all these turbo's being bandied around I would go for the most reputable that has the support not the cheap throw away stuff spend slightly more once and be done with it.

You can pick the comp wheel you want with any ex wheel size to get the best matched setup for your engine.

And pricing is friken good!

Don't the stock turbos barely get over 300kw on straight pump fuel? A GT3076R will make over 300kw and feel like a torque/response monster, a GT3582R is capable of over 400kw.

There are setups better than the GT3076R, GT3082R (which really there is no place for these days - WAY better options out there now), GT3582R etc as well with things like the GTX series Garretts, BW EFR turbos, FP HTA etc in terms of response vs power as well, it all depends on your needs are and what you're willing to spend on them. One of the guys I know has a Borg Warner EFR8374 on his RB30DET and has full boost around 3300-3500rpm and is making over 440kw @ wheels on BP98.

Got to be driveable HP though mate remember he is ia RWD car I would'nt be worried what the final number is as long as he gets a big dose of torque through the mid-range and plenty of traction is thing I'd be worried about with these bigger turbo's there to light switch in there power curves for my liking well this is my own experience anyway.

Also remember though those turbo options you mentioned may flow those numbers putting them through a torque converter as you well no will also pilpher power,as we have discussed this already in other threads.

You suggested a GT3582R, the EFR8374 is every bit as responsive. An healthy 2WD auto isn't going to soak >100kw more than an AWD.

STHitec just tuned an Auto turbo supra with a stock 2JZ - upgraded fuel system and went HKS F-ConV to ensure they could get a justifiable tune into it, made just under 370kw on 20psi. No doubt would make a bit more with cams:

Yep thats a friend of mine Patrick's car put together by another guy that co drives 60Cuba.That car has had an F-Con in it for about 2 years but have had some niggling problems so thats why it went to AKLD to get these ironed out I think he'll be happy with that result.

I'm interested to see how long the transmission stays together with that HP though.

It goes to the track alot and will be doing a day at Taupo in October with the all the GTR's and Sylvia's.
