2JZ-GTE ECU options (auto)

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Fri Jul 27, 2012 10:20 am

I'm thinking about getting something with a 2JZ-GTE in it, maybe an early Aristo JZS147 or maybe a later JZS161.

As far as I can see there are no options to reflash the ECU's in either and only option I can see for aftermarket ECU's is either a fixed tune 'Mines, TOMs's etc' which is hard to find or maybe a Link but they only seem to have an ECU for manual versions which is strange. Why is this, is it because of the Auto being run by the ECU (or a integrated Ecu?).

I imagine an import with a Japanese tune isn't going to be very economical on lower octane NZ fuel so wondering if there are options to tune for NZ fuel and maybe lean it out a little.

Are there other options?

Jump on the jzs147.com.au forums. As above tho, piggy back to control fuel n ignition. Most of the ecus you mentioned are as you said rare, but also starting to break down and have issues. Have a funny feeling the Aristo has a seperate auto ecu from the engine?

As Disturb mentioned the F-Con is plug N play for the Supra/Aristo Auto's as I have had one up n running in my car for the last 4 years tuned at STM by Andre and to be honest with you I was sceptical at first but stunned with its performance fuel consumption increased by over 50 km at 1.3 bar with a full tank unheard of with the factory ECU seriously I see 520 km on a open road run now with vs the 450 odd on the factory ecu.

Downside is that it is expensive it cost me just over $3K for the ECU install and Tune 4 years ago so I'd hazard to say how much they are now I no a few guys in AKLD who have done the same with the F-Con and have had similar results.

But I for one can only recommend the product and the tune and its still going strong to this day the best its done on the STM Dyno at 1.3 bar with BPU supporting mods is 315 reliable thrashable KW's and the car is still going hard.

Cheers for that, what is the capacity of the tank in the MK4? Or maybe do you know the km per litre?

Why not just buy a cheapish, but extremely capable, Emanage ultimate, and tune it yourself?

They control the injectors directly, unlike other cheap piggybacks, and can offer SO MANY features normally only found on stand alone ECU's.

The datalogging features will be extremely helpful too.

P.S There is a MINES GTE ECU on TM at the mo for $600, but as it is tuned to take advantage of 100RON, I would be cautious.

P.P.S I think the reason the auto ECU is different is becuase it has the timing dips programmed into it between gearchanges, and a different timing map etc.

I am running a Tom's T.E.C II ECU in my JZS147 Aristo.

http://www.tomsracing.co.jp/products/pa ... c6b2f78c7f

If you want any parts, I can source them for you directly from Japan.

There are many options in Japan. Sard, Tom's, Abflug, Result Magic, Blitz Access etc. They all do ECU's for most makes & models.

65 litres with the over fill but yeah apparently with regards to the Supra factory ecu's they run them quiet rich in the mid range once you lean them out a bit this gives you the extra mileage as you don't have to use that much of the loud pedal to get the get up and go but yeah I got from my house in Mt.Cook to my brothers in Kaiti in Gisborne on a tank 542 km and the light just came on as I was going up his driveway.

The F-con S and the current f-con iS are also piggy back plug and play that will allow your trans to run normally. Not as expensive as F-con V PRO, but not as capable in extreme( read: big single turbo) applications.
can be tuned in auckland, wellington and Chch.
pick them up 2nd hand from japanese ebay.
or pick one up off trade me, then buy the harness new.
Emanage ultimate aren't always easy to install and configure, but are very capable.
