the first 30hp. cheap

the next 30hp.... heaps

doubling the factory output is cheap?! :P

honda do better NA 4 cylinder engines than any other manufacturer i can think of by a long stretch, its simple really :) (not counting bikes :P)

if you want straight line speed, you have the wrong car. if you want to go fast round corners well... theres alot more stuff above power on the list of things that help.

couldnt agree more, the sensible person buys a Type R (like the one I brought lol)

If you just want to go fast in a Toyota. Buy a mr2 turbo.

I had mine running 12s for under $5k including the price of the car.

That's because its the sensible option. And the TypeRs don't tend to give many issues. And don't feel lacking in power like the 20 valves do. Well, B18C anyway. B16A is a better comparison for the 4AGE, but both are rubbish compared to the B18C.

And yes on the bought/brought comment

you are correct.

Also with regards to B16 engines I have seen one in NZ make 167kw atw. Have never seen a modified 4age in NZ do that.

But I get the reasoning for the honda engines there easy to get and cheap to get parts for

That and the 2ZZ is the only one of the above list which gets near in terms of performance, the 7AGE from what I know is the only one that would be a bolt in making the only one I can think of with a clear advantage of any kind. Aside of course from satisfying personal preference, which would have to be one of the most important criteria.

Personally I admit to myself that while its easy to compare our levins to integras... we should know the Type R is a lot faster... :( :(

but hey - at the end of the day - at least we dont drive a honda

I never got beaten by a honda even a typre R

Not sure if that was because every honda driver in one that I came across cant drive or what but in saying that my engine wasnt stock and my car was quite light

On another note I measured up my 25det neo engine last night and if I cut the fire wall and made custom front mounts it would fit if I sat it 100mm back in the car :p

But would be so front heavy and im not that crazy

These days yes but when I was younger I must admit I did some stupid stuff though I never had or caused an accident and generally it was when no one else was around

Topping the car out on the desert road at 2am being something I dont think I would do again

Tbh its not that hard to go to a test day at manifeild or go to a burnout comp in levin so I dont feel the need to do shit on the road

Honda vs Toyota drags started after conversations starting like that to settle that kind of thing, general conclusion is when you hear about conclusions formed in illegal street racing with no redlighting, no set race distance, unobjective race results (the amount of times I've seen where both people involved are adamant they won) any result you hear is very much to be taken with a rather large grain of salt. Going by your 100% beat rate, I'm betting you never hit the dragstrip.

On another note I measured up my 25det neo engine last night and if I cut the fire wall and made custom front mounts it would fit if I sat it 100mm back in the car :p

Honestly think what you are currently planning is cooler.

Actually I went to the dragstrip at meremere a few times back in 2008 ill see if I can dig out the printouts cant remember what times I was getting just remember it was slow compared to other cars Ive dragged recently and tbh ive never been a straight line racer

yeah... there you go... so you would beat an integra type R that also had that level of modification? doubt it... IMHO type R is faster then BZ-R/BZ-G overall...

ive got a mate who has a type R, i believe he does around 13.7 second passes in it, its the big 4 door version, only bolt on upgrades and he hasnt stripped any weight from it, its got big mags etc.

i dont think my levin if it had all the bolt ons, and then even stripped and cammed would take it on.

but i like levins just as much because A. their a toyota and B. they have less of a "show off to your bros that know nothing about cars" factor to them
