Car transport (invergiggle to wgtn)

Post by ~SlideWays~ »

It has been asked many times before, but after a search I don't see any clear answer.

I'm interested in a car down in Invercargill to be shipped to Wellington. It is wof'd and reg'd so easy transport.

I've emailed Mainfreight for a quote and also found 'Captaintransporter' which estimated $705 incl GST.

Are there better options? I don't mind picking up from a depot in Wellington once here.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Cheers

PTS always head south fully loaded, but often return partly loaded.

if it's driveable, then toll auto express could be an option.

Get one of those clear flights down there for $59 and drive it back up and have an impromptu holiday sight see. Probably save you a few bob doing it that way to.

Toll is $584+gst and fuel surcharge according to Turners. You would probably be better off with a dedicated car shipping co.

Could also give Carr and Haslam a call. Use them for work on a regular basis. They are based in Auckland but can still move vehicles nz wide

If you're happy for the car to be driven up, my Dad's involved in a business transporting cars around the country. They often go on "standby" and fly to pick up cars from any location.

Give him a call - His name's Jeff and the business is "iDrive cars". 0274773337 .

Done 8)

Cheers everyone, I called every one of them. Strangely the price changes if you get a different person on the other end. Prices don't vary much though, the ferry crossing is the killer. There are limitations to some like Toll Rail with a 150mm clearance minimum (no idea if it meets this). Plus PTS had a 5 to 6 day turn around which didn't work in this case. Main frieght basically don't do cars in the south.

Crucible: sort of...

Cool, I love those cars yet to own a factory turbo one though as they have always been to pricey to convert to manual. Instead I have gone the other way and bought a factory manual GX100 and plan on dropping in the 1jz when funds allow
