leaking diesel pump '91 2.4L Surf

Has failed WOF on this and apparently is pretty bad. how easy is it to rebuild them? i think its had at least one of the seals replaced a few years ago. am i expected big $$ for a new/reconditioned one?

chances are that if it has had a kit in it, and is leaking again then shafts are worn. is it a keeper or a seller ??

the 2L/3L pumps used to be a reasonable price, it's when you get the later EFI 5L that they get spendy for repair or replacement.
best bet is to ring around as prices vary too much to even guess what it is worth .

Failed a wof on the same thing a few years ago same 2.4t surf.
There common for leaking at the cold start valve on the side of the pump so I could be the same problem

Cost me $190ish to get fixed, which was mostly labour as all they did was take it off and fit a blanking plate. Simple fix but in a c**t of a spot to get at it

They have simple leaks from two places, and $$ leaks from others.

If it' the above one, no sweat, or it could be the top cover.
Give it a good clean and check to see where it's coming from. Could just be the top cover oring

Its not easy to rebuild them, i've been working here for over 12 years and still have no idea on how a VE pump would go back together.
(but then again i work with turbos.)

If one of the seals was replaced it most likley was the top cover & throttle shaft orings, they are the most common to leak.

Best way to find the leak is drive to washworld blast it off with high pressure wash, and drive home, inspect for the leak.
