I'm interested to see how long the transmission stays together with that HP though.

It goes to the track alot and will be doing a day at Taupo in October with the all the GTR's and Silvia's.

Nice, where was it being worked on before?

It was put together at the Toyshop about 3 years tuned at STM then had a few issues about 12 months ago and then went to ST Hitech for the above tune.I think he'll be really happy with this result.

Would this be suitable?

Thats the bugger go with a .82 housing and your car will be rocking.I just spoke to my friend who was mentioned by lith in this thread earlier he said his new tune with the above turbo is scarey fast if you can I'd say grab it.

That one is off an XR6 Turbo, would definitely not be my first choice for a Supra. The smaller compressor housing (.50, not the usual .70 people go for) tends to restrict power a bit, and the large turbine housing will make sure you have some lag.

The GT3582R people are recommending is the "aftermarket" version of it, notice the larger compressor housing?

And as 2jatzgte said - .82 turbine housing is the go

that'd make for a lag monster/dyno queen.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 091374.htm with the 0.82 exhuast side it'd make for a punchy wee set up

this would go alright too

Very much not. So what is your intention with the car? How much power are you after, etc?

The GT3582R you linked to wouldn't be THAT bad, it just wouldn't be ideal and its internally gated. You just have to deal with the risk that its a used turbo with no promise on quality, etc. Again, if the turbo is fine then it wouldn't be bad - definitely not as bad as a T88 haha.

The TA3410 setup Strx7 mentioned would probably be the best all around bet if you are tight for cash, want something quality which will not choke your motor too badly and be nice and streetable.

If thats your ideal price range save up a bit longer. I just spent 2k with bazda on that turbonetics turbo do it once do it right, iv had a bad experiance with cheap copy amd 2nd hand turbos, i found turbos dont really like to sit for to long seals let go etc

Scotty don't buy the throw away stuff mate as escortman has alluded to spend the $$$$$ once and buy a well reknown brand I'd start at Garrett then go from there now sure they are'nt cheap but I bet they'll have better reliability and will cost you less in the long run and will probably perform better also.

Wait up and save to buy quality Scotty don't go for the hear and now solution.

I to am looking into a single turbo setup for my car next year, first stop is the GTX turbo's by Garrett/Honeywell after seeing and talking to my friends experience with his new tune all I have to see now is what it does on the track if its as good as he talks it I'm officially going single.

We can get a journal bearing turbonetics T61 equiv to the GT35 for around $1349. Comes with a 1 year warranty as well.

Upgrade that to the billet wheel which makes it equiv to the GTX35 for an extra $165.
Then another upgrade to a ball bearing core +$450.

Turbonetics cores are billet proof and will last, + they can be rebuilt easily unlike a Garrett bb core.

Both Garrett & Turbonetics are great options and the only options i would go with if you want a good quality turbo that will perform.

There is also another option. Steve Murch will be bringing in the Holset performance range shortly. He recons they will be very well priced.

If that's the case then you maybe shouldn't even be considering modifying a large turbocharged car at this stage.

Awesome! Good news, just choose carefully and there is no reason you should regret it :) Turbo technology has come a long way, you can get awesome results with single turbos. I'm sure you have the opportunity to hear about if not experience first hand how your mates auto Supra is with the GT3582R.

Bare in mind the GTX turbos are in many cases slightly laggier than the straight GT series (like GT3582R vs GTX3582R) - at least for the people I know who have changed to them, despite what some of the marketing would suggest. They are also capable of quite a bit more power, but I'd treat them as a slightly larger turbo when deciding on what you want.

Turbonetics turbos have built a great reputation for being tough well built turbos, and had their time in the sun 10 years ago though in terms of spool/response etc they've been not that flash in recent history compared to their competitors - I'd assumed that the recent MASSIVE price drop on them was that they've stopped being competitive in the relative performance market and they've had to take the cost effective angle when competing.

Agreed.
Alot of people go down the route and realise they cant even afford to finish their project so end up selling it :S
