AE111 Bodykit Design Poll

Postby mlewis » Sat Aug 11, 2012 11:59 pm

Hey guys been looking at body kits and panels for my ae111 trueno, loved the wide bomex kit but havnt been able to find it anywhere else but japan.

One of my old work mates designed a custom wide bodykit for my ae111 and would love to know everyones thoughts on the design, or suggest changes to design.

Just thinking of something different to the ordinary toms, trd, or bomex bodykit

all of the below is IMHO.

bodykits are stupid at the best of times, unless serving some kind of aero purpose on a track car.

that staggered fitment style which the drawings seem to indicate really doesnt suit underpowered front tuggers.

if you want a car that looks like that, maybe start with an altezza? they are a bit closer to the desired look to begin with, and at least they drive the right pair of wheels.

if you've got the money to pull that look off well, then you could just buy a much nicer / faster car and be a lot happier in the long run.

but ultimately, my opinion is worth shit when its your car. if you like it, then do it.

was only thinking something a little wider at the guards incase i wanted to fit some wider tires on it ( atm only have 17x7's on it). I just dont like the bolt on flares, would rather have something molded in and looking like it should be there

Doesnt help there are only a couple options when it comes to ae111 bodykits

I think AE111's are nice in stock form. I've never seen a bodykit that made them look better and that one isn't even a close contender.

IMO.

this is why i thought about running this poll, it doesnt convince me entirely. atm mine is a prefacelift trueno bzg and has the factory lower lip which looks quite nice and hides all the intercooler piping and fmic

pretty much all cars look better with the standard body, some low and suitable wheels. which to me is 15s on an AE111, but each to their own. under promise and over deliver is my theory - if it looks like nothing unusual but goes great, thats a win. the reverse, not so much.

IMO :P

Kit looks good, just not that keen on the smaller sections of mesh at the very edges of the kit front and back. But it's unique so go nuts. Have seen a similar rear kit before, but hardly ever.

Mine has always had a kit. Originally legit Bomex, but I smashed that so now have some other copy of something.
