e51 mr2 box into corolla

Postby whynot » Sun Sep 02, 2012 8:13 pm

i am going to be putting an e51 gear box into my corolla shortly and i am converting the shifter linkage to Fwd. Now i have found that the shifter linkage from a c52 box works but not very well. What have other people used to do this? do i need to get one from a fwd e series box like from a celica or am I missing something?

This is very easy.

Just get the E series shifter parts.

You will need to drill & tap 1 hole for the shifter support bracket (M10x1.25) but dont drill too deep as you dont want to break through the case!)

Then you need to plug up the end hole where the MR2 shifter came out of with anything really. I've seen some people use coins. I just made up an alloy bush and pressed it in.

Also note you will need to use NON lsd GTZ input shafts.

I'm tracking down a shifter for the gearbox now. But what has me now is I kept the mr2 drive shafts from this box. Will they work with the corolla or is it definately the gze ones I need?
