Replacing synro's C56 - C52

Postby magweal » Tue Sep 25, 2012 4:17 pm

Is it very easy to do? Also am I correct in saying that all C52's had 1 long shaft on the drives side and the C56 had the split shaft??
Can you tell any differences by looking at them??

Regarding shafts no: C52 come with split shaft in AE101.
Regarding synchroes: if you are careful and follow instructions (from repair manual) there should not be a problem, except you will need to press/pull out 5th gear set which could be a pita without right tools (the gears are fragile).

have done this on ae101 c52 gearbox using ae82 workshop manual.
sergei tells the truth.
follow a workshop manual!
5th gear is a prick to remove without a proper puller. i managed it with pry bars etc but it's easy to damage things.

I fitted this box behind a 20v ST + ae101 driveshafts in an ae82 fxgt.
