Mag Wheel Warranty Query?

Postby Garreth27 » Thu Oct 04, 2012 11:31 pm

I bought some 19's on October 15 last year brand new direct from a mag shop but I have now discovered that the inside of the rim and around on some of the spokes they are starting to flake and peel. I take it that this shouldn't happen to wheels that are not even that old.

Would this be covered under warranty as i assume it comes with the standard 12 month warranty and i am still within that period provided i can find trhe damn receipt

Dont worry about what they say the warranty is or isn't.. go CGA on their arse if they dont offer to fix/replace.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

Yup, I'd say you should be able to get them repaired or replaced easily enough if the trader is still around. You'd be reasonable to expect that a wheel wouldn't start looking tatty in a year through no fault of your own.

Just make sure to not talk about how you use brake pads with corosive pad compound, or how you use a caustic mag wheel cleaner on them etc.

If they have flaked simply from being on the car, the the CGA has you covered.

Products must be fit for purpose, and last a reasonable amount of time being used as would be expected

Spoke to the head office of mag and tyre direct and they will be giving a copy of the receipt. Car was hardly used with the mags and I always kept them clean, I usually just used soapy water to clean them, and then rinsed them and wiped them down with a towel, only used a sponge to clean them. Car has done prob 200km in the last 6months so it's barely been driven on to get much brake dust. Hopefully they will be good abt it. Next time think ill just go to platinum wheels for some rims.
