He doesn't know shit. 75-90 syntrax or trd lsd oil. pretty sure trd oil just got discontinued but its the same as the motul gbox oil..

trd prob isn't necessary though not a clutch type diff..

Yeah I ran syntrax in mine, went sweet as, felt nice.

I've heard of running ATF in manual transmissions before, but not on one of these.

Penrite sin 75 is the best option.

Motul gear FF but its quite $

he also said synthetic was no good and will eventually polish my syncros.

put some 80-90 gear oil in and it seems to be abit whining so im guessing wrong oil

also put a heavy duty clutch from exedy in and it slips WTF!! i did run it in btw.

Who is he?

The above oils i've suggested are race proven and work very well in these boxes.
Remember when running a viscous LSD, if you run an oil too thin it can get very hot, meaning the viscous LSD wont work as well.
I found this out when I ran a viscous lsd for a little bit until I stripped 2nd gear.

Both the Sin 75 and Motul FF are designed for LSD boxes with Syncros.

Are the Toyota viscous lsds not sealed. Pretty sure they are. So the oil you run will have no bearing on LSD performance.
So, you also don't need LSD oil.

But if the oil around it gets hot the viscous lsd internals get hotter.

its from trademe. i think its from an ae101 4agze levin but wouldnt have a clue..

it has a pin in the diff but also my 4afe c52 had one.

i thought only 20v blacktop and silver top came with viscus?

no, ae101 gtz gearboxes are factory viscous lsd.

Mechanical could be interpreted as torsen (helical) or clutch type.
The BZR comes with torsen type. Torsen behaves like open diff when the car is off the ground.

The helical LSD can be spotted via the holes in the diff it self (the helical and odd straight cut gears are visible).

I believe the AE101 GTZ diff is of viscous type.

ae101 gtz are all viscous LSD.
If you look down the passengers side diff hole you will see an extra spline which is separate to the diff spline, that drives the viscous. It also has a hex bar in the centre.
This also meaning the box takes diff shape shafts and has to use the AE101 gtz shafts. Non LSD ones wont work.

C series boxes have the hex bar but it doesnt mean anything, its still an open diff.

Some late model AE92s came with the Mechanical LSDs (TRD). Very rare to find.

lol i guess ill just have to save for a trd diff!!

put ATF in today runs mint no noise changes perfect! i think ATF is the go!

and the fella who recommended it is 60 years old and races 4agze for god nos how long has 4 of them and he is steven from Glen Eden mechanical he rebuilds the gearboxes too! he says synthtic will polish your syncros and eventually ruin them and redline stuff is too thick as well.
and atf is the go!
