Anyone had any experiences with Cash 4 Cars?

My partner and I are leaving NZ and are selling our cars. Mine is sorted but hers there is a lot less demand for, and its worth next to nothing. Its a 1991 Corona.

We dont have all the time in the world, and its not worth holding out for someone to pay a price that its probably not even worth.

We have toyed with the idea of this Cash 4 Cars company I have found on the net. Has anyone had any experiences with them? Are their offers half decent?

OH okay, they seem to buy in any condition according to the website, and some testimonials suggest that they do pay decent money depending on the car of course. I just pondering whether it is worth the bother of going down that road. To be honest we could only get $800 for it probably privately selling it anyway lol

No harm in getting a quote I guess. Polish it up (it is possible to polish a turd I saw it on mythbusters ) and $1res it with a bunch of good photos. Turners down here (so I assume everywhere) buy cars for instant $$ too, so could be another option.

Take good photos and $1 reserve it.

I know of someone now overseas who didn't want to know what his car was really worth, held out for his asking price in a classified listing on TM. He is now overseas with his car in storage, costing him money. That $5-$6k would have been handy.

As Luke said, Turners buy cars. They've had adds on the radio over the weekend wanting more cars.

For a 1991 Corona, just line up somebody from here who will buy it the day before you leave for an agreed price. Then don't worry about trademe tards.

If it has a current WOF you'll get more privately than for any outfit that says "We buy anything!". Because the subtext to that buy anything line is "we buy anything for 1/3 of what it's worth". After all they're there to make a profit on anything, and that's how they can do it.

Make it a cheap cheap price and I'll buy it, put rally tyres on it, and go play on gravel in it

Yeah it just sounds like another option incase nothing else goes right. Typical female fashion, she is scared that putting on a $1 reserve means that you only want a dollar for it and it will only sell for a dollar and nothing more...its certainly not worth listing properly as its not worth much, and the ones that are on trade me are either overpriced or jsut have no interest in them at all.

Its more one of those situations where you find a friend or someone that will buy it from you cheap or worst case scenario you sell it to turners or someone!

It would suit that to a tee... thats what it is at the moment but only gets used once or twice a week. So will no doubt do that at some point in the next few weeks

Yeah I can understand that thinking. I suppose a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Its just a matter or settling on what seems like a fair price.

I've seen some dollar reserve cars go for substantially less than they're worth recently in the sub $2k car bracket. Also people who bid on $1 reserve cars have some pretty delusional ideas what they should be expecting, so might give you the run around after the auction has closed and they actually show up and see the car (probably for the first time).

Personally I'd put a price on it about a week before you want rid of it, run a classified. Aim for a lowish price just to get a cash sale and the car gone.

Also means that they can't change their mind a week later and give you red face feedback (no feedback on a classified obviously).

$1 reserve all the way.

The only way cars go for under what they are worth is having shit or not enough photos. Or the car needs work and doesn't have a fresh WOF.

They bid. They win. They look at car, refuse to pay or try to screw you down under the price at which they won the auction. You get stuck with a car unsold as you leave the country. Happens lots.
