i used to think that too, but convertibles are awesome - though there are plenty of really ugly examples of originally hard topped cars that have been bodged into convertibles.

edit - and now i've watched the video, its even more awesome. no roof at all, hardcore!

11/10

i wonder who owns it?

Jay Leno the lucky ba$tard..

Apparently about 5 years ago before the LFA was released Mr Toyada actually took the LFA Prototypes to Jay Leno and asked him what he thought as the US was going to be there biggest market outside of Japan.

Does he actually own it? I thought the LFAs were all leased to the 'owners'?

actually i dont think it counts as a convertible since it has no roof. :P (surely a detachable hardtop would have been possible?!)

but i think it looks great, unlike, say, this attempt

a few minutes googling would indicate that the rolls royce thing is complete rubbish, and it seems that lexus USA originally offered the LFA on lease only terms to try and put off speculators and collectors who were not going to drive the cars - however they are now for sale out-right.

Here's the new racecar Lexus are preparing, rumours are that LeMans could be on the books but other rumours have it as competition to the GTE cars running at the Nurburgring 24 hour in a attempt to win it.

That prototype in the 2nd pic has been around for about 12 months hiding at Toyota's F-1 HQ in Cologne Germany I remember because when that pic first showed up on that Lexus enthusiast site it was pulled down within 24 hours of it being put up.

I hope with that car they are slow and methodical with it try and win that Nurburgring 24 hour then go after LeMans the big prize after.
