And herein lies the problem with the Pirelli tyre being given to the teams.

They degrade at different speeds depending on what car they are on, and the advantage that is brought by being able to run without fighting with other cars, not only give your a few laps more life out of them, they are much more consistent over the stint.

Pirelli have done lots to generate interest from the casual watcher, but in turn have turned of alot of avid fans due to the manipulation of the true pace of each constructor.

I know they are dropping their compounds again next year to bring them closer together and, the teams have requested for a "less peaky" tyre, but it reamins to be seen whether or not that tyre is going to suit one chassis more than another next year.

Dont be surprised if its the Lotus*cough Renault cough* though ;)

But that's where I think your wrong.

Racing is about managing what you have to get the best results, and of course things like tires degrade at different rates depending on how you use them, no different to road cars there.
F1 had become so sterile, where every difference was managed out of the sport, so basically the race result was known/could be reasonably be predicted in advance, and overtaking was non existant.
Now that type of racing may appeal to you, and if it does good on you. But to me racing has always been about the challenge of making the most of what you have, to get the result, and taking chances as you can to get the the front and finish the race.

Look back at racings history, and indeed F1 history, it all began as a competion to prove yourself as the fastest, and having the most reliable car, over any condtion.

Really the type of racing we used to have on the bridgestones, could have been played out by computers. And would have been just the same.

A control tyre should be a challenge for all teams, and hopefully its the same next year.
Ending up with spare parts in assembling things since 1983

^ I suppose in a way you are right. Everyone gets the same rules and regulations to work with, and give that no two teams are identical the pirellis are always going to suit one team better than another. But thats all part of the journey, have to change the car to get the best out of the tires.

2 years in the wilderness coming to a middle of the road team and now winning in his first year back.I gotta suspect in my estimation this to me is Kimi showing his class, good to see it would make you wonder if he was part of the big 3 if this guy still is capable of winning the whole thing I think he probably could its enjoyable watching him get closer and closer to the front.

I think Vettels comments for once outshone the Kimster.

I bet thats the first, and last time we hear "We had a chance to $&#$% it all up and we didnt" on the podium haha

Haha someone made a youtube clip of all his radio interactions during the race. Funny as. Ill try find it.

Happy he got the win as ive been waiting for it! Priceless Kimi comments though, cant help but think though that it was a little annoying to see him win and still show no emotion lol

Kimi is awesome.

Apparently his engineer doesn't talk to him on the radio, its the chief engineer that was asking him to warm tires etc.

He should realize though that when reporters ask stupid open ended questions, they are wanting an answer that will be interesting to the global audience. And if we are lucky, he may be able to tell us something we didn't pick up watching the race.......and fill in the broadcast time slot wearing his sponsors logos.

No one has commented yet? What an amazing season, so close, so much drama in the final race! I could barely handle it. Super stoked in the end as I am a big fan of Vettel, Kimi and Hulkenburg and they all had their points to cheer. Obviously Seb won which was amazing, Kimi third in a Lotus in his first season back and Nico showing that next season will be an interesting one with him in a Sauber, I really hope the car is good enough for him to show what he's got.

Never been a massive Alonso fan but have to give him props this season, what he did in that car was amazing, truely shows his skill that he came so close despite being in a slower car. He pushed and pushed and took the defeat with great honour so respect to him!
Dig a hole for the next man and you'll fall in.

Hulkenburg's move on Hamilton which took him out was like not another young guy whose caused another un-needed accident these younger guys are to gung ho for me,inexperience man if that hasn't been a bug a bear for these guys all season.

You have a look at the Hamiltons Buttons Alonso's Raikkonen's can race inchs apart but race fairly no incidents but you throw some of these young guys in the mix and you can guarantee its crash band a koo for sure.

End of the day good year.RBR deserved it they put the heat on and Ferrari could'nt handle the pressure I to admire what Alonso got out of that horse and cart Ferrari but cudo's to Vettel he was the better man in a better car.

Long video but shows the two being questioned were NOT under yellow.
However at the end he shows one that appears to have been. Depends on the rules.....
I was under the impression that if a driver can see the green, and they are past the incident, then it's a green zone. I don't know what they say in F1 though.
If it's cut and dried green is only from the flag point, not before. Then that is a pass under yellow.

I see ferrari are using the Toyota wind tunnel in Cologne fulltime upto August to help produce the aero package for there 2013 2014 car.

It makes sense as one of Ferrari's main issues over the past 2 or 3 years is their problem with getting the data collected in the wind tunnel to match whats happening on the track. Things havent been matching up well so I think they are using Toyota's tunnel while theirs gets a massive overhaul is a smart move.

Im guessing they are also doing it with the longterm plan to have one running 2013 spec chassis, and the other a 2014 chassis.

Yeah I have heard this but I just find it ironic I guess as they used the Toyota wind tunnel as a bench mark because there aero numbers were'nt adding up when using there own.

I hope Toyota are charging the F**K out of Ferrari for using it aswell.
