Painting Question

Postby BZG Wagon » Mon Dec 03, 2012 11:14 am

I'm painting the interior of my aluminium boat hull and I've painted the epoxy primer on in two sections; first up to the front seats, the second from the front seats forward.

The first section came out perfectly with rock solid adhesion. However while painting the second section, the paint kept peeling off on the roller, leaving clumps of paint everywhere.

The whole boat was prepped the same (sanded, washed with acetone, acid washed with zinc-phosphate, acetone wash, then a thin clear epoxy resin painted on).

Any ideas what might be going wrong? I'm wondering if the epoxy resin hadn't set properly before painting over it?

What was the humidity like? Hadn't been raining at the time/recently?
