GPS.. whats good, whats not?

Haha, smartphone GPS can suck a ...........

I have been wondering about this exact question ever since I went to Auckland and my smartphone GPS told me to take an off ramp, then take the onramp back onto the motorway .................... Twice!!

Lol, Had the "smartphone" do that to me too. Take rosebank road exit... at the roundabout take the third exit onto rosebank road. Good old google nav.

I think it would be good if there was a GPS unit that would give ETAs based on average speed. I have a trailer and legally cant go over 90km/h (80-90km/h average?) and the ETAs must be given with a average speed of about 95-100km/h

My Garmin gives 95kph average Gisborne to Opotiki, look that one up on a map....

Picked up a couple of Garmin Nuvi 50's today for $129 or $127 a piece. Harvey Norman.

They don't come with cables to sync to a computer, nor to charge from the mains. No worries though if you have other USB crap as they just use standard cables so both are currently being charged. I guess it keeps costs down.

I've got the Nuvi 35 (same with smaller screen). Pretty simple to use, not reallllllly needed in the South Island. One thing I've found really handy on road trips with the kids is the ability to look for schools (they always playgrounds/shade/water fountains).
