VTNZ moan threads are always the same, i've seen one on every car forum i'm on without exception. Feel free to take another break if you feel it necessary though, hopefully no feelings hurt etc. :lol:

Haha, no hurt feelings here. If someone doesn't want advice from a qualified mechanic, its no skin off my nose. Your right about the VTNZ moan threads, or just WoF failures full stop.

Maybe instead of helping people I should just troll them instead, they might listen more hahahaha

You're claiming it has no play, because you have applied minimal load, by hand, in one direction... Think of the forces that the suspension experiences on the road, in all directions. Did you expect to jack the car up, and just shake the shock, and then tighten it? It might take a bit of force/load to show where the play is. It's fairly common where a car is setup like yours - stiff aftermarkt suspension, with minimal other work. Has all the bushes/arms been replaced with stronger items? Have you even inspected them?

Point 2 - It's not upto them to tell you. It has play - wof fail. You go fix it.

Point 3 - Spinning what I've spun? Why wouldn't you just go to another VTNZ and see what they say. Surely if they fail it for the same thing, then somethings going on? I also suggested going back to the same VTNZ and telling them its fixed, if you have no faith in them - this would be a good test.

Point 4 - You are always complaining about NZ, why do you live here?

You ask for advice, but you are only really looking for people to have a moan with you.

I still fail to see what the $&#$% is the big deal.

Maybe if you had gone to one VTNZ, they failed you on play, then you went to another and they passed it. Or if you had gone back after doing nothing, and they passed it.

If you have applied moderate load then it shows play, your suspension components and anchoring points must be made of jelly. Any lose bolts or joints should and will show play within the first few mm of travel in either direction, I have inspected the suspension components myself before going to LVV certifier. The bushes and arms have not been replaced - the car has low KM's and there's no play to warrant a replacement.

$100 a visit on a problem that I do not believe is my fault. So what do I do after I pay another $100 to another VTNZ and they pass me, their argument will be "oh yea but you fixed it before you went to visit another VTNZ so yeah nah no refunds for you", it's not about the money, this whole certification exercise has costed me $2500+, another $100 won't matter, it's the principle of being right or wrong.

See point 1 and point 3.

Sometimes dunno if you're trolling or just retarded, if you move the suspension more than 20mm, the whole side will go up, and if you need to move it that much to see "play", you're doing it wrong.

Do you turn your steering wheel 2.5 turns to see play?
Do you push your clutch pedal all the way to the floor to check play?

I dont know why but I feel I should still help even though you dont seem to want it :?

All VTNZ's are linked, if you get failed in Chch at VTNZ, you can go to a VTNZ in Auckland and get a recheck. So when he said go to another VTNZ for a check, IT WONT COST ANOTHER $100.

When checking for play, make sure when you are releasing pressure off the bar you release all the pressure, eg your bar looses contact with the tyre. Also jack up in the center so that both tyres are off the ground. A swaybar can hold pressure on the suspension so that you cant feel any play.

Now I'm getting mixed info, Didn't someone say it's $30? VTNZ website says prices are different for WOF checks because they're fully independent http://www.vtnz.co.nz/FAQs or are they saying only for independent VTNZ stations?

Without a long enough bar I won't be able to lift the wheels up from the front or the back.

Will take apart EVERYTHING and reassemble EVERYTHING when I get car back.

Get it checked at one VTNZ, take it back to any other VTNZ

FYI anytime you go to a track they want to see WOF, you would know that if you'd ever been.

The fact you have a disco potato on a mr2, and can still only do a mid 13 1/4 mile tells me that your driving skills are up there with your mechanicl skills.

I've seen mr2's with ct20b's do 12's.

If its wheel bearing would you feel the play with a wheel on the ground?
I've been failed on play and told bearings but can only bearly feel it, but only when the whole back ends up?
