Thanks in adavance
Mr Revhead wrote:First thing you need to do is measure the tread of the fitting, and the seal id and od.
Then you can look for a filter.
Or just ask the people you got the kit off what filter is meant to fit. Then use filter cross references to find one you like

I know the thread pitch and the seal ID and OD, as I had to measure it in the first place to find a filter to suit. My issue is that I want to run a genuine Toyota filter, or TRD filter, and they dont fit the thread I have currently.
The people I bought the kit off are like most Trade me vendors selling aftermarket car parts... gone with the winds lol. But the kit was supposed to come with an assortment of common thread types, mine only came with 1, but as I had a track day the next day, I had no time to sort it so just grabbed a suitable Ryco off the shelf in the workshop.gt4dude wrote:dumb question probably, but doesnt this mean your sandwich plate wont fit either?
No, the sandwich plate with the oil lines coming from it, thats mounted against the oil filter housing on the side of the block screwed on fine, its just the thread for the remote oil filter housing thats the issue
Mr Revhead wrote:Does the filter spigot come out? If so have you looked to see if the inner thread matches the inner thread on a Toyota?
fangsport wrote:cross reference the ryco filter to a Toyota one if it THAT important to use a toyota filter
find an old filter book from Fram /ryco etc and use your current filter as the reference, then go through and find one that suits your dimensions/ drain back valve etcMr Ree wrote:I hadnt given what type of cartridge much thought to be honest, I was just reading on BITOG and saw that alot of chaps in the US run cartridge setups so they can run a larger filter.
Do you have any suggestions on which brand of filter would be the best substitute for the Lexus filter I mentioned earlier?
I know I can cross reference but what would I be cross referencing to if I had no idea of the quality or lack thereof, of the brand in question?
I dont really want to apply guesswork to buy filters that fit my currect relocation plate thread, if I can simply source the correct thread and go back to using what I always have, but if I cant do that, then I would appreciate advice from anyone who knows the good from the bad before I start cross referencing anything.
Thanks
