On comparing VVT-Li vs VTEC, is when it kicks in.
~6k rpm for the Toyota and ~5k rpm on the Honda.

It would be nice if I was still in that powerband on changing gears in the RunX. So in the Honda there is more usable power as such.

for that power, isn't that the SR20VE? I thought the SR16VE was about 170ps

Non-turbo Subarus barely compete with NA Mazdas, so not even in the same ball park
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

No it's an SR16VE found in an N15 Pulsar N1 but they didnt make many. Still the most powerful production 1600 engine iirc.

Dihatsu's DVVT is interesting

when it kicks in it turns a complete piece of shit into a partial piece of shit

that said im sure they are toyota anyway so its probably an economy version of regular VVT?

Same hp/litre as the S2000 does with a 2litre - not unheard of but definitely pretty fancy. They are definitely rare as hens teeth though, never seen one myself.

i think thats the difference between hondas and everything else, nissan and toyota etc had to make everything light and extreme to make the same power (or less than) a honda cruises to

I would LOVE one of those N1 pulsars, 9k rpm limit and tuned suspension with a nice lsd. Would make the hell track car. They are SO rare though and also yes very highly strung with quite high comp. b8cr is probably still the way to go tho. Easier cheaper, more torque and much more aftermarket support.

This. DC2Rs are superb value for money, a workmate of mine sold a higher-km, nicely modded Type R a couple of months back for $4k.. was a little untidy but would have made a perfect track hack.
