For someone who practically lives on toyspeed, you would think they'd know the engine was just rebuilt a few months ago before making that comment. You funny lunchie.

oh sorry, didnt even notice that, my bad! I clearly I must not be spending enough time here.

Maybe I'm getting old, but chassis k's put me off, regardless of engine rebuilds.

i agree with the high kms putting people off regardless of rebuilds.

you cannot guarantee a rebuild has been done properly you know, and the kms drastically effect the resale value.

i want to get rid of mine before the kms start getting really high. because i am worried it will plummet in value, regardless of the kms.

3k is a pretty sad price but i think i would take it if it was easy cash. i would NEVER go below that, i would rather hold onto it until it rots then sell it for a figure starting with 2.

Hmmm, you might wanna hang on to it then, unless you're prepared to wait...have seen slightly rougher versions of your car sell for $2500 or less

ive seen plenty of bzg go for 2500 but not BZR?

i might put it up next week for 4200 ono. i wont expect it to sell fast but you dont have to pay if it doesnt sell right?

might as well put a hook out in the mean time, in hope ill get more for it, then chucking it up for 3500 ono in a few months.

When I wrecked a BZG for parts, it was worth around 2k. Half of that was engine/gearbox.

The difference between the two is next to bugger all, doubt there'd be many people who'd pay an extra $600 to have a red R instead of G  Or is yours 6 speed? I forget.

I suspect he means he had that gearbox in his car, and subsequently sold the car (and regrets the sale).

yep but the 5 speed are supposed to be stronger and easier to shift.

the gear box is a little clunky, well its perfectly manageable, but its not effortless. i want effortless shifting

i think most people with a c160 gearbox like mine would agree that the c160 usually in general arent the easiest transmission.

james, that would be headshotnz on here who works for toyota in wgtn said that my gearbox is smooth for a c series but still... its not as nice as most other cars ive driven.

Get a different car if you want a different gearbag. 95% of BZG/R/V will have been thrashed at some point in their life. Gearbags don't enjoy that and wear and tear means they won't ever be perfect. Why spend money you don't have on something you don't need? my2c. Mine can sometimes be quite notchy when it's cold, but even that's not every time. If you want effortless, go auto. If you find the 6 speed too hard, go auto.

My c56 5 speed lsd box was the smoothest gearbox ive ever owned

didnt have the 2nd gear issue or the reverse thunk must c5* boxes have

I also have a trd short shifter connected so perhaps that made a difference

the C52 in my race car is remarkably smooth, considering the car has been a race car since 9.5 years ago. Not exactly what you'd call an easy life for a gearbox, and it has ~ 208k on the clock.
