Need some help

Postby dnalunchie » Thu Jan 24, 2013 11:33 am

Hey all.

A mate in auckland is buying a new car and despite my best efforts she has her heart set on these two.

Is there any reason why she should stay away from either of these? I don't know the models very well

cheers

both total garbage.

The Festiva's drive like a pig and rust out from underneath. Horrible cars made out of old biscuit tins. I had one, briefly, and it was as pleasant to drive as a dentist visit.

Lantis will drink petrol like nobody's business, then will poo the automatic in a very expensive manner.

Make sure you get free glass on your insurance. IIRC some of the glass on those things writes the car off.

Go the Lantis. I haven't known anyone to own one in roughly 10 years, but they were a decent car back in the day and kinda sporty. Nice handling, good engines etc. Being bigger is nice too.

Have you thought of a starlet or Maz Familia?

Girls ask guys about cars hoping to hear that it's a good idea and will continue to ask different guys until one tells them what they want to hear, usually in exchange for a hand shandy, my suggestion? Be that guy.

Girls ask guys they aren't interested in, for their opinions on things, in hope of attracting guys there are interested in.

Take note lunchie.

I'll put it another way

Go learn to drive in some old beaters, so you can get a feel for how a car handles.

Then, go get a nice car.

yeah nothing like a few crashes in old beaters to get a feel for the limits.

if i had to choose one of those cars, i would have the festiva. would pick the lantis if it was a four cylinder.

otherwise i agree that both cars are horrible, horrible choices.

PS the secondhand car market gets worse by the year.

Agree here. You would want to check the festiva for rust around the sunroof I'd imagine.

Is she the type of person to actually service and look after a car?
