Wheel sandblasting and respraying in WGTN?

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Tue Jan 29, 2013 9:43 am

I have four 17" Enkei RPF1's that I'd like to have resprayed, I bought them 2nd hand and they have been DIY sprayed before so really need to be sandblasted first.

Has any one had this done in Wellington, would any panel shop do it?

Any suggestions on who to try?

Hit up Webster (DexGT) to see who he used.

I recall that he had some wheels given a big birthday and powder coat not that long ago.

Called a few places on my lunch break:

Advanced Wheel Repair:
$150 per wheel for sand down and spray paint (they don't do sandblasting).

Powder Coating Services ltd - Wellington
$90 per wheel for chemical paint removal and powder coating.

While we are on the topic, does anyone know if the chemical stripping can damage certain metal types/finishes?

I would hate to get my Volk CE28N's refurbed, only to find the process damaged them :(

I've seen in the Volk warranty once these rims get damaged or curbed they take no responsibility if someone else repairs them with regards to structural integrity.

Must have been a fair few years cause he did some for me 3 years ago and was $80 each then .
Powder surfaces ltd in upper hutt have done 3 sets for me , and 2 sets for others that I know of , last ones I paid for was $100 ish for the set of 4 , they were 15"s .
There is a sand blaster 200 meters down the road that did some 15"s for $30 each .
I work right next to them so can probably drop them off and / or pick them up , but you probably should talk to Bert about color etc 1st .

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.
