Cannonbull run
Hi there people.
Is anybody on here doing the cannonball run?
My bro and i will more than likely be making the trip up to Aucks to see what the buzz is.

Ha, I have heard that some people drive like $$% on this event and that is why I have stayed away from it in the past, not good association to be honest.
I value my licence too much to be driving like a fool so I will be driving to the speed limit and obeying all road rules, may even have the missus drive, I have nothing to prove to a bunch of boy racers in their stickers up road cars, I save the speeding for Targa on closed roads my friend
I am however keen for a run down the runway if I can, would like to see what the car can do, hope its not just burnouts, cant afford the rubber!

You do know there are Porsches, Audi R8s, a couple Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Z06s, Exiges/Elises, Aerial Atom, Maseratis, a couple Aston Martins, etc. etc. that come each year eh (and everything in between) since the first Cannonball Run, I don't remember anyone acting in that manner... if they did, others would report them and they'd be banned from all future events. To be honest, the worst display I've seen is from police officers... I remember we were heading past Puhoi and heading up through Warkworth two years ago on a very busy, twisty road, and a police officer as we were going around a corner with traffic coming/blindly, decided he'd overtake us in the Hummer and the 3-4 cars behind us by driving in the oncoming lane to get around us (with zero visibility and flying around the corner too) only to stop the car about 150m ahead of us for having his high-stop light out. Now most people have dash cams, so they won't be getting away with idiocy like that again.
Apart from that, it's always a good day out and Jeremy Elwood from 7 Days in performing for us at Formosa Resort at the dinner afterwards
The strip will be open most of the morning for anyone to do what they want on I'd assume

I am only going off what I have been told by friends who have done them in the past, I'm sure most people drive well and I am sure there are some nice cars there, look forward to seeing a few on the runway!
Don't want to sound like a Nazi either, I have just got my licence back a few weeks ago after a suspension for demerit points and know all about speeding and driving infringements, hence why I personally will be taking extra care to stick to the road rules!!
Bring it on

Haha, fair enough too. Wherever I've been in the world I always make it back for Cannonball and wouldn't miss one! :p You're fine if you stick to the road rules, I never get pulled over and I'm not too overly cautious sometimes... in general though the cops you come across are understanding of the run and take photos with everyone, etc. Just a good atmosphere.
Have you got your sticker pack yet and booked your ticket for the dinner afterwards? Either way should see you there on Saturday - come say 'hi' to Mr. Superman shirt

Oh man, we took the H2 the year before last and those Northern roads were not suited at all haha! The General's getting it's trim re-polished for the Beach Hop so I'll just have to accumulate all the stone chips with stigy this time around!
I was going to come in my race suit... but it's completely black. (boots, gloves, suit, helmet, lens, neck protector), so that plan didn't turn out too well!
Here's us heading to the Kumeu show the weekend before last (showing the blackness that could've been in the convoy with your mate's Suburban!)
