Always interesting in the differences at the beginning of the season and end of season bodywork.

Does anyone know if the testing is screened live on Sky F1 in the UK?

As painful as it is, no test sessions are ever streamed as they arent covered in the FOM rights.

I just stay up all night, watching the times tumble down the screen, and read comments from those who are in attendance at the track etc, and look at the occasional pic uplaoded by those with big lenses. Will be interesting to see if the times drop at all after Jensons handy lap yesterday.

I have loved the past week, watching all the new(ish) cars being rolled out, but with no obvious surprises yet, apart from Saubers sidepods, one could expect the order to be pretty much as it was after Brazil short of a little bit of movement. Famous last words though hehe...

My partner and I were planning to go, just to listen to the glorious motors one more time, but alas, other things have taken priority, and its no longer in the budget.

And poor old neglected sky tv NZ customers will still just get the average BBC feed once the season starts, and with the obligatory delays, cancellations of various sessions so they can show a replay of a local netball game that we lost... Thank god for vipbox

Grrr I hate this country for its lack of technology. I've had a 3d tv for 3 years and haven't been able to watch any 3d content broadcast! I understand sky Nz cannot justify f1 channel but surely a Motorsport channel.

I pay for sky (via Telstra) so I can have a guarnateed perfect broadcast of every race for my F1 collection, as streaming isnt reliable or high quality enough for me yet. It often drops out, and Ive found quite often the screen size cant be maximised on various feeds the site use.

But I watch every practice and quali session on vipbox so I can get better commentary, features, insight etc...you know, all the stuff the ITV/BBC had the opportunity to do for all the years they had the rights, but instead tool the customers for granted and didnt bother.

Not always. But always there and free with good commentary. I barely watch any tv. Sky waaaaay too much for just F1

Sky is expensive, but I consider it is very good value for money when you consider its for full coverage of all GP3, GP2, FP1-2-3, Qualifying, and Race

Not to mention motoGP, SBK, WTCC, IRL, Nascar, NZ series coverage etc.

Shame about all the Rugby and cricket thats on between the motorsport though hehe

If your coming to Melbourne for the F1, at least get grandstand seats of some description.

General admission sucks - the cars are lower than the barriers so not much can be seen from same. I bought the cheapo tickets last time round as I went more as a sight to see of Melbourne's, rather than being really into F1.

Having said that, I did see a crash!

Further, if you've never been its definitely a sight to see. The cars are unnaturally quick in person, and sound incredible.

if your only after the sound, you can hear it from the city.....

And take earplugs... good ones. Those things are LOUD. Single F1 car going past is louder than entire v8 supercar pack.

I took proper earplug the last time I went to the Melbourne GP, as the cheap shit they sell at the track ruins the sound. And anyone who thinks they can go without them either plans to stand well back from the track, or is going to have severe hearing loss after the weekend.

So the Ferrari has some pace...

Yeah I remember arriving at the track during practice. First I heard one was as I crossed the track in the corrogated iron tunnel. Didn't have ear plugs in but got my fingers in the ears just in time. Wow. It is the single loudest thing I've ever heard. The pitch (allbeit before the V8 days) is just perfect for killing ear drums

Those crossing bridges sure do turn the cacophony from a "Satans just farted" to a "Satans on the toilet making fizzy gravy after eating 1,000,000 Bhut Jolokia chilli's"

They are also great to record sound clips inside of, to try and somewhat express to friends back home, exactly how loud they are.

Couldn't agree more. Last year we got seats in the Schumacher stand last minute as we wern't sure if we would like general admission.

Best decision ever. This year we've got Premium seats in the Prost stand (last corner apex) as we snuck up there after the race last year to see how the view was!
