Selling GT-T Caldina

Postby cat007 » Wed Mar 06, 2013 9:39 am

Hey all

We're about to sell our beloved Caldina.

The only issue is the tyres on it are a bit low on tread. Still got a wof with them last Saturday - but they won't last till the next wof I wouldn't have thought.

Do you think it'd be worth my time/money in buying a set of tyres for it while I sell it - or should I just sell it with what's on there?

I'm thinking I'll sell it as it is as the car only has standard rims - so I imagine who-ever buys the car will probably put some 'mags' on it anyway....

What are your thoughts?

Cheers

They're 15" rims.

Have thought about putting second hand tyres on as you can pick them up for pretty cheap. But I'm still undecided if it'll be worth my effort/money in doing....

Car isn't completely standard. We're the first NZ owners and it came off the boat with Tein adjustables (still have the cert plate in the engine bay but have since replaced with standard shocks/springs. Still have the teins in a box thought - the 2 rears need rebuilding). Stainless Blitz exhaust that's not loud and annoying and a pod filtler.

Otherwise it's stock. We've never fitted boost controller or anything stupid to it.

Has done high km's. Not much of it is city driving. 205km's

Manual
1998
http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=gabsta

Sunroof won't open for some reason. Haven't tried much to fix it. The motor turns for a split second then stops. I can't see anything that could be causing it to jam.

Other that some scuffs and scratches on the bumpers and the rear spoiler missing a chunk - mechanically it's mint. I've always taken good care of it's mechanicals and changed engine oil/filter ever 5,000km's, power steering every 15,000km's.

I replaced the clutch with a stock clutch from autoclutch around the 150-160km's mark. I did the cam belt and water pump at the same time. These were also done at 110,000km's by the dealer just after it was imported - but I thought while the engine etc is out for doing the clutch, I might as well do the cam belt etc. Also changed the gearbox fluid when I did the clutch.

Stereo is just some panasonic thing - or pioneer, I can't remember - will have a look when I get home. Speakers are stock and still produce a nice sound.

ummmm what else....

Had some god awful HKS mushroom filter on it from japan - now has some other brand mushroom filter on.

I think that's all that I can think of.
It'll be going on trademe hopefully this weekend with pics etc.....

You must go to a slack place for your WOF checks if you can get away with that. Running the car in any other spec than what it's 'certed' for voids the cert/wof/insurance most likely too. Unless the plate just happens to be hidden in the bay and you have gone through the process to have the cert plate removed.

You can just take the cert off if you're returning the car to stock can't you?

I didn't take the cert plate off in case the buyer of the car gets the tein's rebuilt and puts them back in....

I'm pretty sure certifier can take it off when they have confirmed the car is back to stock yes. Can you or me just take it off? nope. It has to be checked by someone that has a clue what the requirements are. The car is in the system as certed, it has to be removed from the system.

I'd probably sort that before trying to sell it, will save you a lot of potential headaches. If you got pulled up by the police and they knew what they were looking for. Your car would be ordered off the road.

I read somewhere that you could just take the plate off if you've removed whatever part(s) the cert was for. But hey - that's the internet for ya haha

Good to know - I'll be sure to get it sorted before putting it on tardme :)

Unless you hear that from a certifier, how much trust would you put in it?

People still think rolling slip on generic spacers is legit.

If it's any help, I got $7,800 for my GTT last week.

1997, it was stock standard bar 17" mags. 178kms, manual and in immaculate condition (full servicing reciepts & import documentation).

I was surprised how many calls I got - sold it in a day (which means I propbably priced it a bit low). But went to a really nice couple and I was happy with a quick sale even if it meant possibly losing out on a few hundered dollars.

I was going to list it for $7k, but made a last minute decision to try for $8k.

- original clutch too... 8O

Ah ok - good to know. This one has done a few more km's - 205K to be exact. It's not 'immaculate' but it's not by any means 'rough'.
