TRD Door Stabiliser Set


Not a performance part in there, all shit cosmetic stuff.

The door stabiliser set apparently makes it significantly stiffer

If the doors need "stabilising" from brand new, its more of a cock up fixer than a performance part IMO. Im also skeptical hom much stiffer a brace on the doors can make it, 4X10-12mm bolts to mount the door suggest $&#$% all to me.....

Have had a look at the car and it is awesome, comes fully build to a high standard with all the gear you need and from what I hear it has set some nice lap times, its road registered too so you could use it for Targa or any other rally events, its so nice you could almost daily it. The cost is a little over 80k, IMHO you could not do any better for that money bang for buck on a brand new race car and most certainly not with the high quality gear fitted to this one.

Yep, with the extra power of the Supra would be a great combo. Andre at STM is putting an equivalent BBK on their project 86 and without the TRD branding they are half the price.

Good work at Manfield on Sunday I timed you and got you in the late 1.28 ish range which isn't really to bad on road tyres and in a road car.Good to see a car with all the factory mods out there thrashing.

I bet the car didn't miss a beat and drove home like it should have...

I'm sorry but this just isn't going to work. the reality is there aren't people getting into motorsport at the moment and especially not for that money! for that money you can buy a bijillion HP evo all set up to do 1.12's around manfield AND have spare money left over for a sequential gearbox.. the 86's will do 1.21's at best with the amount of power they make - that is a lot slower for the amount of money you are spending..

it will rob people out of other race classes and spread the race series' too thinly. this is just another example of people wanting to get there own thing started and split up NZ motorsport - just like supertourers have $&#$% the tier 1 classes/championships.

don't get me wrong I like the idea etc but in the current economic climate and issues that motorsport in NZ has I don't think its going to work..

I think the difference between an 86 and a high HP evo will be the running costs.
What do you think it would cost to build a HP evo with sequential and run the race kays the 86s will?
It's more than just the car you have to look at, it's the total package.
I don't know the full details, but for that 70k you will be getting more than just a car.

And, how much would it cost to do it with a brand new evo?

An older car built up is always better bang for buck than a brand new race car but cars like this have their place. They won't be bothering anyone if they have their own series.

I think this is what the main point of that post is, and it's a good one. It would be great to see another race class, but it's better watch 2 race series with 20 cars in each field than watching 5 classes with 8 cars in each.

Depends on what the rules are in the single make series. Far better racing if theres not much "my cheque book is bigger than yours" advantage. Nothing sucks more than watching the guy that knows how to drive get right on the bumper of the guy in front through the corners only to see him piss off down the straight because he left a blank cheque with his engine builder and has 30+hp more.

As for the nzV8s vs V8ST,, ST was started by a bunch of nzv8 teams cos they were pissed off with the way MSNZ was running it. Its all ego and politics now, nothing to do with what is better for the fans/racers. V8ST dont seem to be short of teams/drivers so obviously a lot of people think they are a good value for money racecar and series.

Why not just stick with the factory built road car like a few of the 86 guys have and be done with it drive to the track drive home again best bang for your buck motorsport there is.

Racing is about winning well then there's alot of disappointed racers out there then.

For me I been basically tracking a road car for 12 odd years and have just stuck with that have'nt gone overboard with HP and trying to get a road car to be a race car type deal.

I believe this is where everybody gets lost.

For me if your looking at a purpose built race car its just really hard to go past GT3 Porshes though they cost alot to run performance wise let Porsche do the thinking and call it a day.

Thanks. Also pretty good considering I'm a VERY average driver. This car is great fun on the track although the higher HP cars fly past on the longer straights. Track 2 at Taupo was perfect for it with the twisty turny layout and really shorts straights.

And, yep, drove home like a peach afterwards.
