20v 4AGE into AE70

Postby BattleSnayke » Tue Apr 02, 2013 5:24 pm

So I'm in the process of putting a silvertop 4AGE into my 79 AE70 I have the motor and gearbox sitting in place and I'm now looking at my options for headers.

The AE70 has a steering box rather than a rack and I've tried a set of coby extractors which are hitting the steering.

Has anyone done this conversion before and can offer some advice? I'm wanting to get some in from the states but I'm not sure if it's the steering setup that I have that's the issue or the extractors that I was using?

Am I best to change steering setup or modify my extractors if that's the issue?

It'll be the steering box causing the issue, Cobys will be made for KE70, which the vast majority of are R&P. Just chop em to suit.
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

convert to R+P, you won't regret it.
steering box is slow and has many components that wear and need replacing.

AE70 have them on some variants as well. my nocthy currently has box steering , but will be converted when it sees the road again.
the 20V will need certing , so adding R+P now would only be a small extra cost.
