Car Value/Sale - peoples thought

Postby strx7 » Thu Apr 11, 2013 10:19 am

Thought i'd ask on here and see what peoples thoughts are.

Later this year i'm planning on throwing together another 4wd turbo 100 series corolla, I am undecided as to weather or not to cage it and do a full competition car build, or weather to leave it as a non caged road car.
either way it'd be looking at 400hp at the motor, certified etc, what do people think it'd be worth/sale price or easier to move/sell in what condition???

I have no idea what it would be worth, but surely it would be easier to sell uncaged and with cert.

Much easier to sell a car that is road legal but not caged.

If you're selling a caged car, your total marketplace is limited to those people who have a competition licence (so they can get an authority card). That is a tiny number of people, most of whom prefer to build a car themselves.

Trying to sell my race car was one of the most irritating experiences in my life, and that was only about a $5k Corolla.

that was exactly what I had been thinking, believed the value is probably the same but an uncaged car has alot more potential buyers

I would take it further and suggest that most cars with a cage are actually worth less than the same car without the cage.

It's only worht more to a person who was looking to purchase that car and cage it, but hes not going to admit/pay for that.

Sounds more like something one would build upon commission, as a more practical man would simply go and buy a wrx/evo.
