Removing Personalised Plates on unregistered cars?

Postby Garreth27 » Wed May 01, 2013 12:19 am

I have a personalised plate on my car and the car doesn't have a wof or rego. Rego is on hold anyway.

My question is I want to take the p/plate off now to sell and just put a normal plate on the car. To do this must my car have a current valid rego or can i just pop down to AA and pay the fee for a new set of plates?

Exemption (on hold) is a current rego so you can swap plates as normal.

Last time I tried you couldn't, may have changed though. Couldn't get plates made without current rego either.

Soooo

You can put brand new plates onto a vehicle which has its registration on hold...?

Heap sure can, I took my p/plates off one of my cars with rego on hold and they gave me a new set of government issue plates. Just don't get a rego slip with the new plate on it till you put rego on it.
