Travel times ?

Postby matt dunn » Fri May 10, 2013 10:41 am

Hey there those from Wellington.

How long do you guys think it would take to get from Paraparaumu to the airport on a Monday Morning for a 10am flight?

I would imagine that it's quite a distance and that traffic would be an issue?

45 minutes to an hour max at that time as you would have missed all the eastern suburbs traffic heading into town and your going against the flow of the traffic coming from the Hutt and Porirua.

Its probably about 50 odd km WGTN Airport to Pram.

If its a 10am flight, that means you would need to be there before 9.30 to find a park, walk to the terminal, and get checked in on time.

I would leave no later than 8am as you never know if it will be wet, or if you will encounter an accident on the way, and we all know how poorly our roads flow at the best of times, let alone with a lane blocked during peak hour

I think leaving pram at 8 would miss pretty much all the traffic, but to be safe I'd leave then too!

I agree with Mr Ree and Dell'Orto.

Wellington traffic is very unpredictable. Just trying to get through the city on a good day is bad enough.

Try working on the motorway at 2-3am and getting a rush hour about then. Some times freaky shit!

Aucklands motorways normally start clogging up from the lunch time rush till about 6pm..

He'll be ok though as he'll be straight off the M/Way down Vivian and pretty much he's there.

I commute from pram to cbd daily and need to be on sh1 by 6.30 to beat rush hour traffic. Any later and it starts banking up before paekak. Traffic is still quite heavy at 8am.

And yeah If its raining expect further delays.

Leave early.
