Steering rack lines

Postby Stott69 » Wed May 29, 2013 8:04 am

Installing a new turbo setup on the car and the wastegate return drops too low and clashes with the lines on my steering rack. How easy would it be to rebend these to avoid clashing?

Bummer, mate :(

I thought one of the reasons the sinco manifold/dp set ups are so expensive is because they remove the china factor of things not fitting properly?

I wouldnt want something as hot as a DP, being close to PS lines.

Yea manifold is pretty top notch, but Im struggling with the WG return. But in saying all this it might just be me being a tard. Its been procoated and if it ends up close Ill wrap it too.

If you can avoid having to touch the lines that would be the best bet. I wouldn't want to be putting that much heat near the rack.

From what i can make out from the pic the pipe is sitting right on top of the flare nut which gives you only one option really. Cut and change the pipe angle to clear it.

The ps lines imo will be to hard to mod, if you undo them and attempt to re route or bend you will never get the thread started again, they are alot stiffer to work with than 6mm brake tube. Only way will be to make up new ones, hydrolink or enzed mobile service will be your best bet but i think you will need to change pipe angle by the looks.

yea you will def have to get the return changed thats really close, im guessing there isnt any way you could bring it to sinco's shop and have him mod it?

not for a 2 ton barge that gets taken into the city. Iys bad enough as it is.

Im pretty much decided it will be a matter of changing the WG return.

Reason why its always better to fabricate on the car. Making up from a jig doesnt always pan out.

Kinda tight. Don't know the heat output of that thing, but just the interference from engine movement is NFG all by it self, even with the line removed.
Nothing can be done with that line & fitting that will accomplish much & worth the trouble
Raise the engine with a shim/plate/washers under the mounts or cut up the manifold, then a heat shield.
Rack on rubber mounts? remount it solid & lower.
