2K Cup entry
Just got myself another '92 Levin Apex Gt to enter in the 2K cup.
Really looking forward to taking it racing.
Anyone else entering?
I was looking for a gear selecter bush kit to sharpen up the gear selection but was having no luck with Google searches can anyone point me in the right direction.

I read about this the other day, looks interesting and I thought about doing it but to be honest I don't think I'd have the time to travel up to the upper North Island tracks all the time.
Cool idea though!
I imagine it will be pretty hard to administer which cars are OK and if they are making more power than standard etc.

Great concept it is you should enjoy it! Good tips to make it go fast for cheap are some ae111 rear springs as they are slightly stiffer and will help combat understeer which will be your biggest enemy.. also keep/find all gaurd liners and bottom engine covers. will help with aerodynamics and fuel usage.
also the fuel tank will need to be run at least 3/4 full or it will surge. surprisingly the balance of the 101s actually make it handle better when tank is full.
the shifter bushes wear out on the gearbox end. They are small brass bushes which are easy to make although replacing them with skateboard bearings gives a good direct feeling.
other than that do the basics right. remove brake stone backing plates front and rear, regrease caliper sliders and invest in some good brakepads.
For guys further south manawatu car clubs winter series has a similar class. time limit is 1.30 which most $2000 cars wouldn't go any faster than. My mate just got himself a dereg vn commy wagon and got it on the track for $1500 including a half cage. absolutely loves thrashing around its a great way to get into motorsport.

best car would be an EF9sir but I would think it would be a hard sell to convince anyone its less than 2k. I brought one for 1400 4 years ago but.... that was 4 years ago.

you'll probably find your local car club or series has a very similar class with no cage required. a lot of people think that motorsport is expensive to get into and to do but it can be done on a very modest budget. $2k is no more than you need to spend on a car to get started and learn how to drive on the track.
some people spend big money getting into motorsport but they don't enjoy it nearly as much as the guy spending nothing cause they think; 'i've spend X $$ on flash shit I will be awesome and cane everyone because I am the best driver in the world..' and ALWAYS leave the sport 1 or 2 seasons into it dissapointed and sour.
nothing teaches you more about race craft and how to corner than a shitty car with very little power..

Think carefully about the car you buy. Make sure it left the factory with an LSD if you are looking at a front tugger (your particular car, not just that model). Basically you want to find the highest spec model that came with as many goodies as possible, because you cant upgrade much except brakes and springs.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

There are only 2 FWD cars I can think of that left the factory with an LSD that could plausably be had for 2k

Just had a quick look over the approved list. Bit rude they allow Integras up to 94 (So DC2's) but not MIVEC FTOs. Heaps of other good candidates on there though!
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!
