Is there a number plaque in the RC

Never owned an RC (although the rally car is an RC replica). Wondered if the NZ/Japan editions actually got a numbered plaque like the US alltrac and the Euro CS versions?
The answer is Helmholtz!

I don't believe so. I remember BR0Z trying to work with TNZ to determine number, but was unable to do so. Just a frame number on firewall and model plate is all you get.

Generally identification of genuine CS is through the frame number and alignment to the types of modifications on the car.

I've definitely seen 1 RC locally that had the plaque in front of the gear shifter. It's been suggested that a lot of original owners held on to the plaques or something.

Also FYI there was no NZ edition of the RC, the Aus one was the Group A Rallye (I don't think any were delivered here) which had the plaque, Europe had the CS which had the plaque, and the US AllTracs are regular ST185s (albeit widebodies), none of which were homologation models.

Identifying a genuine homologation model is as easy as checking model code on the chassis plate, ST185-BLMQZ = RC/CS/Group A, ST185-BLMVZ = regular old GT-Four.

Just googling, this is possibly the one from the RC, looks like what I remember

the angle of the panel above it suggests it's for a RHD market and it's not the Aus one which looks like this

It's a car I effectively want to return to factory spec as it rolled off the factory line (other than a set of 16 inch OZ alloys). Looking to keep it for an extended period as a tribute to my old age (and homologation specials of the 90's) As such something as important as an ID tag is a necessity. However the three I've seen advertised simply don't have one.

Wouldn't mind dragging one in from Japan (if I can find a car that old). Something with as low a k's as possible. Anyone know where to start?

Think you are right. The RC was only referred to as the CS in Euro markets. I doubt they would add the Carlos badge to a non Carlos car.
Would explain why they seem devoid of them here in NZ.

If you wait a while I would imagine those ones would come down. I recall 18months or so back a few of the CS ones on trademe were going for 5.5-6K. And one higher kd one went to auction and sold for 3.5 which wasn't a bad deal!

I distinctively remember one with the plaque that is picture in the first photo on this thread.

I have seen a couple of CS widebody's go through the jap auctions.
If you are serious about getting one in from japan, perhaps we could sort out a deal.....
