caldina gt-four N edition

Postby Grrrrrrr! » Sat Jul 20, 2013 2:02 pm

Okay, so i've just test driven one and not completely sold on it, still a few other cars I want to test drive. But I would like to know how to spot the N edition which comes with a few extra goodies. Recaro seats and torsen rear diff are two i know of. But i suspect the Recaros are options that could be specifiied on the standard model also.

Does anybody here have a Caldina they know is an N edition, and if so could you open the passenger door and grab the diff code U140F-xxx for me.

Also, are there any other features which were only on the n-edition that I can use to identify them from tardme listings?

Gt fours never had diff code on spec plate. Don't believe interwebs either. Jdm gt fours and cladina gtt only came torsen. American and select euro came wih open diff. Not too sure on st246 but i'd assume torsen based on history. Need borescope to confirm

Went and test drove another one, the yard had three of them, all had 01B for the trans code, whether they were N edition or not. So i'm going to assume the only difference is the recaro seats, minor trim differences and a pointless strut brace.
Standard seats seem okay, so dont think I'll bother paying extra for the recaros if I decide a gt-four is what I want.

Out of curiosity how did you find these? It's an outsider on my list of to get next, partially due to the 3S and I'm not convinced they suit a tiptronic. Any insight would help.

If they had a 5spd I think id buy one, but the 4spd tiptronic isn't inspiring, the usual time lag from giving it a command to it actually changing. They go moderately well, handling seemed to be about what you'd expect from a modern 4wd turbo, understeer if off the gas, and I didnt really push it but probably would oversteer if you pushed.

Both of them had minor issues, the first one had a pulsating brake, and the number of weights on the rear wheel make me suspect its bent. The second one made a bit of noise from the right front under brakes, didnt bother trying to figure out what it was.

They're good enough to be worth taking one for a test drive to decide for yourself, but dont expect to be amazed.
