Help! Car suddenly wont idle "NOW SORTED"

4EFE engine, starts fine and when your foot is on the accelerator drives fine but all of a sudden now as soon as you lift your foot off, revs drop right down and engine stalls.

Only odd thing prior to this was the car was sitting idling and all of a sudden the revs went up, had to blip the accelerator to bring them down, tho not sure if it related.

Any ideas?

I am about to check if there is any fault codes.

Possibly idle control valve

Is this all while the engine is cold? Had this years ago on a courtesy vehicle, but it was 4ef. Turned to be a stuck choke.

This is a carb motor though

Thanks guys, it ended up being the idle control valve, looks like coolant was leaking internally through a rubber seal which then intern caused a residue build up and made the rotary valve stick shut.
