Is it not sealing due to sitting slightly askew, or is the clamp not tightening?

Also, if you look at both v-band flanges, do they have the the same angle on their back face, where the clamp presses against? I have noticed there are a few different types.

Sometimes they can just take a little bit of fiddling to get them in the perfect position so try and reposition it a few times too.

Thats the plan for this arvo. Yes the flanges are slightly different, and think I had the clamp at full tight as Ive started twist the T bolt out. Ive got some Ali sheet sitting in the shed that I may make gaskets out of if needed

You shouldnt need any gaskets for it, mate. And also, you should never have to tighten the clamp alot

Its possible one of the flanges has warped slightly when it was welded to the pipe, so put a square edge across them to check.

Currently thinking V bands are Gimicky. Alright for show cars an stuff but just a pain in the arse. They dont pull up slight missalignments, an arse to get on in tight spots. Will use normal flanges if I do this again

Are you sure there is no warping, mate? The only time I had issues was first fitment when I discovered the DP flange was slightly warped. Had it resurfaced at the same time I had the manifold flanges skimmed and it perfect.

Im the opposite to your experience and would never go back to normal flanges.

I hope you can get it sorted soon without having too much drama with it all

Just waiting to get some charge back in then will start it up again. Also pulled codes and getting 21 and 31, Map and O2. think Map may be because of the super AFR and the O2 might not be getting ground through the ceramic coatings.

Fitted decat to the RX8 last night which made it super loud but at least it will rev all the way through to 9500 now (didn't like going past 7000 with the blocked cat). Downside is almost every gearchange now results in an almighty bang and I assume the rotary signature flames out the back.

Also went to VTNZ, lol'd for half an hour while they did everything wrong then passed my WOF. Might do a service tomorrow then don't have to worry about it again for a while. Gonna enter it in the next playday in Sept since I don't have to worry about beating on it anymore.

Installed an old Android phone and permanently wired the car charger in the car.
Now I can text it, or go to a website, and get its GPS(or network) location, take a photo of the driver, etc...

Put it on all fours, drove it, happy at roughly $6k and 6 months. 10psi spring with no boost control saw full boost at 3krpm. Just a few things to tidy up before WOF on saturday

good stuff craig... now time to step up to winter series and race against another 2zz powered car for next year.... lol

new wheels today after a mate smashed my j speeds at last winter series round.
getting all engine bits balanced up as we speak and hoping to have it all ready for assembly early august when I make it up to hamilton for a weekend to drink piss/build an engine for a weekend (what could go wrong!?!)

wheels fit perfectly at 15x8 + 20p with race tyres and a slight amount of guard bashing. its amazing how much more tyre is exposed on a 205 when it is on a 8" rim...
ordered a sweet fibreglass front bumper this week as well should make the car look a bit lower in the front for a change...
