scam? Selling my sisters car.

Postby TRD_ZERO » Wed Jul 24, 2013 12:52 pm

So I have the car advertised on auto trader. Got a txt from some sort of automated serviceit seems. Emailed the guy that sent the txt. He sent this back:

Thanks for mailing back,am ok with the condition and the price, as am
buying this car for my vacation, because i'll be coming home for very soon
from our rig as am a petroleum engineer on a rig offshore,i won't be able
to come for the inspection due to the nature of my work,i would have love
to call in person but our satellite server has been down which restrict our
calls.i will be paying you through PayPal,i will need you to give me your
PayPal email address so i can make the payments asap and pls if you don't
have PayPal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.PayPal.comand
get it set up , after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail
address you use for registration with PayPal so as to put the money
through.I have a pick up agent that will come and pick this up after i have
made the payments.

I've heard various stories how money goes in then pops out mysteriously.
What you guys think?

anything that usually says they are in the army\navy on tour or on an oil rig\at sea is usually a scam

the REAL ones wait till they are back on land or off duty and shop in person with gobs of cash if they are keen on what you are selling

Thats is one of the most common scams out there.

This is your opportunity to scam the scammer, so dont waste it.

Tell him you dont have paypal, and can only accept Western Union. He will come back telling you how paypal is so safe etc, so make him do stupid things to prove he is who he says he is. Ask him for photos or himself holding a piece of paper with the words 'ILUVDAKOK' or similar, and get scans of his ID cards etc, and ensure to always end your replies with 'God Bless You' and try to drag out things for weeks and weeks, by continuously dangling the carrot in front of him

And please keep us updated :)
