Driveshaft loop installer in auckland

Postby steroidcontaskie » Sun Sep 01, 2013 3:02 pm

Hi all

I have had a go at installing some driveshaft loops and it looks like it is going to be hard for me to get the generic ones I have bought to fit, so am looking for someone that makes and installs driveshaft looks in Auckland, the closer to Otahuhu the better.

Anyone know of any place that would do this?

Cheers
Edward

I kind of figured it would be expensive, but I don't think I will do a good job myself. I can see the certifier being less than impressed with the quality of job I can do.

I just don't know where to go to get then installed.

I bought some of the generic hoops for my car and had a mate modify them to fit for me.
Unfortunately there isnt much room in the tunnel and the driveshaft smacks the top of the rear hoop on a hard launch :?

Hi all

So, I have had a go at installing the generic dirveshaft loops I bought. I have got the holes drilled and the loops mocked in. However, they are very close to the driveshaft and I am a bit concerned that the driveshaft might hit them while I am driving.

Anyone got an idea of how much the 2jz driveshaft will move and hence how much clearance I will need?

Cheers
Edward

It is pretty hard to measure it, but I would say 3mm.

But I figured out that wasn't going to be enough. Today I got under the car, gave the hanger bearing a good push up to see how much it moves .... and it easily hit the loop. So I moved the loop higher and it clears now, but is only attached with 2 m10 bolts, not 4, so might be a cert issue.

Might make a custom top loop that clears and has 4 bolts I can do up.

Cheers
